Impressed/Depressed/Unmoved: College Football Week 11
You might guess the first "Depressed" on the list. But there are a ton of other things I was impressed/depressed and unmoved about in Week 11 of the college football season.
Impressed
Iowa
Shonn Greene proves to be worth the fee, Iowa's defense bends but doesn't break and gets a timely interception, and kicker Daniel Murray breaks hearts.
LSU-Alabama
Horrible game for either to lose. Both teams were big on turnovers but big on big plays, too. I don't think either quarterback will exactly be a Matt Ryan in the NFL, but hey—it was a lot of fun. Funner for fans of "Rammer Jammer," though.
Texas Tech
This Texas Tech offense is very, very scary indeed. Their "D" is also pretty good against the run. Prepare for a shootout in Norman, Oklahoma.
USC
Once again, USC's defense is filthy. And I like the fact that—for once—Pete Carroll decided not to go large on style points when he had the chance to at the end of the game.
Georgia-Kentucky
What a game, people, what a game. It wasn't for the lovers of defense, but both the Wildcats and Bulldogs put on quite a show as Georgia edged out UK 42-38.
Wyoming
Until recently, not many teams have won at Neyland Stadium against the University of Tennessee. But the Vols are in freefall, and Wyoming took a 13-7 victory back to the Prairies.
Nebraska
In his first season as the boss, Bo Pelini has made Nebraska bowl eligible—against a legit KU team, too.
UNMOVED
Ohio State
Unless Penn State lose at home to Indiana and Michigan State, Ohio State's Big Ten—and National Championship—chances are still over. But in 2009, I'd be very, very afraid of Terrelle Pryor, as he leads out a very, very good Buckeye team.
Utah-TCU
I have to say—I was expecting points. But Utah's 13-10 victory at TCU didn't show me anything—apart from the fact that Utah aren't as good a team as Boise State. As for TCU? Sad.
Texas
Texas' rebound was nice, but it was against Baylor. Remember—Baylor really aren't very good.
DEPRESSED
Penn State
Aaaaaargh!
Vanderbilt
At 5-0 I thought Vandy would get to a Bowl Game. Now—after the Commodores' fourth straight loss—I'm not so sure.
Notre Dame
Yeowch! Suddenly the Irish fans calling for Notre Dame are being silenced! I bet the Irish can't wait to get this bunch of Catholics off the schedule.
Kansas
Weren't they ranked once?
Virginia
Suddenly the Al Groh recovery story gets silenced in the wake of Wake.
UCLA
It's funny, because Rick Neuheisel's victory against Tennessee made me believe that UCLA might actually be competitive in the Pac-10 this year.
