2011 NFL Supplemental Draft Results: Where Did Terrelle Pryor Land?

Ryan RudnanskyJun 7, 2018

The 2011 NFL Supplemental Draft has come and gone, with the big surprise being that former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor was the only player selected.

The Oakland Raiders used a third-round pick to grab Pryor, and are reportedly looking at him as a receiver in the meantime.

Pryor ran the 40-yard dash in approximately 4.4 seconds at Saturday's Pro Day, which would have been the best time among quarterbacks at the NFL combine. He also recorded a 10'4" broad jump, which would have been near the top of the quarterback class.

It wasn't a surprise that Pryor was selected in the draft on Monday, but it was a bit odd that the Raiders used a third-round pick on him when he was widely considered to be worth a fifth or sixth round pick.

Here's a look at the 2011 NFL Supplemental Draft, complete with players who were left out and how Pryor will fit with the Raiders.

Final Draft Order

When the Oakland Raiders grabbed Terrelle Pryor in the third round, they stole him from several teams rumored to have interest in him, including the Pittsburgh Steelers.

But the question is whether Pryor is a steal in the third round. Most people would say the Raiders overpaid, especially for a player who isn't likely to be an NFL quarterback anytime soon (or ever) and would still need time to develop if they were transition him into a receiving role.

Sure, with his athleticism, Pryor could be a contributor for an NFL squad, but spending a third-rounder for him is like the Raiders are expecting him to be a starter. They have quarterback Jason Campbell as their clear-cut starter under center, and their receiving corps is crowded, not to mention exhibiting far more potential than Pryor as a wideout.

Final Draft Results

Terrelle Pryor was the only player selected in the 2011 NFL Supplemental Draft on Monday.

The players eligible for the supplemental draft on Monday included: Georgia running back Caleb King, North Carolina defensive end Mike McAdoo, Western Carolina defensive back Torez Jones, Northern Illinois defensive back Tracy Wilson and Lindenwood defensive end Keenan Mace.

Of all the players not selected, King was the biggest surprise, but he was signed as a free agent by the Minnesota Vikings shortly thereafter, according to Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald.

King joins a crowded Vikings backfield of Adrian Peterson, Lorenzo Booker and Toby Gerhart. However, Booker is likely going to take on more of a fullback role, and Gerhart could be used as a receiving option out of the backfield.

King didn't receive a lot of rushing attempts during his career at Georgia, but he averaged 5.4 yards per carry last season on 80 rushes.

King was ruled academically ineligible to return to Georgia on July 8.

Pryor's New Team

3 of 3

The Oakland Raiders likely selected Terrelle Pryor in the third round on Monday because they believed he could be a Brad Smith-like player, the former New York Jets multithreat who provided value as a receiver, running back and return man.

The Raiders already have their guy, Jason Campbell, who they got via the Washington Redskins last year for a 2012 fourth-round pick.

The Raiders will likely incorporate Pryor into various packages to see if he can make an impact with his speed and athleticism.

One thing's for sure: They better hope Pryor turns into more than a fifth or sixth-round prospect as he was tabbed because now, they're without their third-round and fourth-round pick in next year's draft.
