Liverpool Transfer Rumours: Liverpool's Week in the Transfer Market

Neil HarperJun 7, 2018

In a week where Liverpool have won there first game of the season, and a big one at that, against Arsenal. It would appear that Liverpool are starting to close up there spending for another year.

However, if this week is anything to go by, Liverpool are far from finished yet with just over a week to go.

In this article I'll be looking at the possible signings, transfer gossip from around the club and some probably-leavers too.

So let's get to it.

Sotirios Kyrgiakos to Wolfsburg

1 of 10

As you may have already heard the Greek defender has signed for German outfit Wolfsburg on a two year deal and for me it adds fire to the flame of Liverpool signing another centre back before the transfer window shuts.

Kyrgiakos will surely excel in the Bundesliga and, although I'm probably in the minority, I think he was a good back-up choice for Liverpool, but definitely worth selling for the right money.

David N'Gog to Bolton

2 of 10

I'm still not sure if this is a good deal for Liverpool. Yes, he's not the best striker Liverpool have, but at the moment he's a good prospect to have. I'd definitely let him leave on loan to Bolton, but I think he's worth more than 4 million.

I'm also surprised that this deal does not have Gary Cahill coming in the other direction, Liverpool are still interested in the defender and having to spend less on him with the addition to N'Gog seems like the ideal situation for both teams.

As with Kyrgiakos, Liverpool may be looking to buy another striker, as they only have two, possibly three at the moment, and could do with another easily.

Alberto Aquilani to AC Milan

3 of 10

This one's been on the cards for a while now and although it will be sad to see him leave, it's not unsurprising to see why.

Aqua-man is too good to be in the Liverpool reserves and, with his proneness to injury, his loan move last season sealed his fate away from Anfield.

Milan will be a very good move for Aquilani considering he has had a lot more experience playing in Serie A, especially whilst playing for Liverpool, and I'm sure AC can get the best out of him.

Joe Cole to QPR

4 of 10

Some how it never really clicked for Joe Cole at Liverpool, which is a real shame because he's still a great player. Despite not leaving Liverpool yet, I think everyone can agree he will have moved by the end of the transfer window.

At the moment, QPR are the favourites to buy him, however I believe his wages are currently a stumbling block in there move for him.

For Joe Cole, a move to QPR would not be that bad, they're a Premiership team who have a lot of talent at the club and Cole could easily add to that.

I hope he does go to QPR, not for Liverpool's wage budget, but for Cole himself.

Dani Pacheco to Rayo Vallecano

5 of 10

This has to be his final loan move before he's thrown into the first team at Liverpool, or moves on for good. Surely he needs to be involved with Liverpool after this season and I do not see why Liverpool are letting him go to Spain if they are serious about keeping hold of him.

Pacheco is a bright talent at Liverpool and they need to keep hold of him, I'd much prefer a loan move to Norwich for him because at least then he's getting Premiership experience, which will no doubt help him at Liverpool.

However it looks like he's on a move to Spain, so chances are Liverpool are ready to let him leave the club for good.

Dirk Kuyt to Inter Milan

6 of 10

Please don't leave Dirk!!

I joke, but still letting Kuyt move to Inter is such a bad move for Liverpool, at the moment Kuyt is integral to the team.

I can see why Inter would bid for him. Even with a fast pace, Kuyt would keep up and would play havoc with defences in Italy.

Kuyt still has a job to do at Liverpool, proven by his performance against Arsenal, and he will no doubt be staying at the club.

I hope.

Cahill, Dann or Shawcross to Liverpool

7 of 10

I'll put all three of these in the one slide because Liverpool are still being linked with all of them and although I think there pursuit of Scott Dann has weakened, he's still a choice for Liverpool.

One of these defenders will be in a Liverpool shirt by the end of the transfer window, Liverpool are now in need of a centre back and with all of them being linked, I can see it ending with a purchase.

As for which defender they will buy, I'm clueless.

One minute it's Dann, the next Shawcross, the next Cahill. All of them would be welcomed in my eyes as they are all great, young, experienced players, but the quicker the better really because, if I learnt anything from watching Arsenal on Saturday, they need a defender much more than Liverpool do, so getting their first choice (who ever that may be) may be harder with Arsenal in tow.

So the sooner the better really.

Hugo Rodellega to Liverpool

8 of 10

This was a surprise to me but apparently both Liverpool and Spurs are linked with the Wigan striker. Don't get me wrong, but I really can't see Liverpool going for Rodellega, firstly, because I don't think Rodellega would like being a back-up. Secondly, because I just don't rate him that highly.

He's been with Wigan for two seasons and only just had any interest from other teams. He's a good player for Wigan definitely, but at any higher team I think he'd struggle.

I do think this is mainly rumours as well. Liverpool have yet to bid, neither have Spurs, so only time will tell if the link is serious.

Kevin Doyle to Liverpool

9 of 10

I like Kevin Doyle.

I think he'd be a good player for Liverpool if they did buy him, but I can't see it. Mick McCarthy isn't  just going to let his top striker leave without a hefty transfer fee and Liverpool can't afford to pay that sort of money for Kevin Doyle. Even then, similarly to Hugo Rodellega, I don't think it's worth it just for him to be back-up to Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez.

Doyle would score goals for Liverpool and I like that he's been linked to Liverpool but there is very little chance of him being signed by the Reds.

Conclusion

So there's Liverpool's week in the world of transfers.

No doubt, by the end of the transfer window there will be a lot more to talk about.

Until then, however, thanks for reading, and feel free to comment on any of these transfer rumours or with any of your own.
