Oregon Ducks Football: 5 Potential Schools Lache Seastrunk May Transfer To
Lache Seastrunk was the No. 3 running back in the 2010 recruiting class and a consensus five-star recruit. When Seastrunk signed with the Ducks last year, he became one of the most high profile signings in Oregon football history.
However, there were almost immediate rumors of Seastrunk wanting a transfer, due to how far away Oregon was from his hometown of Temple, Texas, and his lack of playing time.
Lache seemed discontent just standing on the sidelines and not even being able to suit up on saturdays. Seastrunk eventually toughed out his first year in Eugene redshirting.
Then came one of the biggest stories in College Football this year: The Willie Lyles Saga.
Any athlete would have a hard time staying positive and calm in a situation like that, and Lache was no exception. However, Seastrunk has handled the situation with the utmost professionalism.
While doing a radio interview with Portland's ESPN affiliate 1080 The Fan in August, Seastrunk seemed upbeat about the upcoming season and his chance to contribute. He said he wasn't ready to play his first year because he was unable to pick up the dense Chip Kelly playbook but had made strides in his second year and has a greater understanding after working hard in the spring and summer sessions.
Seastrunk was unable to crack the rotation at running back and was outplayed by walk-on Ayele Ford and incoming five-star recruit De'Anthony Thomas. Seastrunk showed flashes of brilliance in the spring game and practices but struggled mightily with consistency.
Earlier this morning Seastrunk was granted his release from his scholarship and will look to transfer elsewhere. Seastrunk's one year at Oregon will be marred with inconsistency and an inability to achieve his greatest potential.
Here are five schools Lache could potentially transfer to:
1. Baylor University
1 of 5This is the school with the best chance of getting Seastrunk because of its location and need for depth at running back. Baylor is located in Waco, Texas, only a short drive from Seastrunk's hometown.
Baylor was in the running to get Seastrunk while he was coming out of high school. Seastrunk will petition the NCAA to play right away due to Seastrunk's grandmother's ongoing health problems.
2. Texas Christian University (TCU)
2 of 5This is another Texas school with a small chance of getting Seastrunk.
TCU has a track record of taking Texas recruits who failed at Pac-12 schools (Aundre Dean).
3. Auburn University
3 of 5Auburn was Lache's top school until they signed another five-star recruit Michael Dyer.
While Lache may look at Auburn again, Dyer will be the biggest deterrent to Lache going to Auburn.
4. University of Texas
4 of 5Texas is another school that Seastrunk may look to attend, as Seastrunk was interested in UT initially. Texas has not had proficient running backs for a good while now, and Lache may be able to break that trend.
5. Any Community College or Division Two School in Texas
5 of 5This would be an option if Lache wants to play right away and not have to sit out one year due to transfer rules. Also, there wouldnt be much competition for Lache to win playing time, and he would likely be the best player on the field every game.
