Sergio Aguero's Stunning Debut Gives Manchester City the Look of Champions

It was just before the hour mark at the Etihad Stadium, finally time for Manchester City fans to welcome the club's latest messiah.

Off went Nigel de Jong, City's imposing and industrious defensive midfielder. On came Sergio "Kun" Aguero, their £38 million signing from Atletico Madrid and by reputation one of the most exciting forward talents on the planet.

The game was changed in an instant. Roberto Mancini switched from 4-5-1 to 4-4-2, City took off the shackles and Aguero set about producing one of the most impressive debuts in Premier League history.

His first contribution was a slick turn and shot that drew a sharp save from Swansea goalkeeper Michael Vorn. Soon after, he burned past his marker inside the box and just missed the target from a tight angle.

The crowd were already enthralled, but Aguero was just getting started. On 68 minutes, he timed his run to perfection to meet Micah Richards' cross and open his account in England.

Three minutes later, the 23-year-old was to the fore again. This time, he played provider, showing speed of legs and thought to square for the superb David Silva to put City 3-0 up and the game to bed.

It was already a debut to savor, but Aguero had one last offering to leave us purring into the night and beyond. Picking up the ball 25 yards out, he fizzed an unstoppable drive past Vorn and into the corner of the net.

With that, his devastating City bow was complete and Aguero was left to head off into the tunnel carrying the match ball and the adulation of just about every football fan in the country.

In half an hour, the Argentine left us in little doubt he has every attribute necessary to thrive in the Premier League and transform Mancini's City into genuine title contenders.
