The 10 College Football Teams Poised to Dominate Recruiting for the Next Decade
This decade is poised to take college football to new heights with the looming birth of super conferences, revenue sharing with student-athletes, stronger enforced recruiting rules and more. So that naturally means recruiting will be rising even more.
Who are the top 10 programs that are surely bound to reap in the top prospects for the next decade? Come check inside to see who we think they are.
10. USC
1 of 10The Trojans will get through their sanctions, for various reasons. For starters, time passing alone will get them through it. However, they are "USC" and have a rich tradition and sit in the second largest city in the country.
Toss in the fact the Lane Kiffin and Ed Oregeron are two of the very best pure recruiters in the country, and you see USC is bound to weather the storm and come out of it very strongly.
Even this year, they have the top prospect in the nation, according to Scout.com, in DE/OT Arik Armstead. It's safe to say that it is likely USC will have a top ranked class or two again within the next decade.
9. Oklahoma
2 of 10The Sooners are always among the top schools in the recruiting rankings. They do it by selling a rich history, good coaching, gorgeous campus and good education.
Some say Bob Stoops may be gone from Norman in within the next decade, but whether he's there or not, OU still will continue to haul in elite recruits.
Don't worry, Sooner fans; recruiting isn't bound to stop for you guys anytime soon.
8. LSU
3 of 10The Tigers recruit very, very efficiently. The key to their success is the fact that they are the prime school in one of the very most talent rich states for players in the United States.
Louisiana breeds talent year in and year out, and all LSU does is scoop them up and keep them in-state on the Bayou. They'll venture out among the South to get other prospects, but as long as LSU physically stays in Louisiana, they'll be able to land top prospects.
Last time I checked, the Tigers weren't planning to move anytime soon.
7. Michigan
4 of 10Brady Hoke did a smart thing when he got the Big Blue gig, as he went and hired Greg Mattison as his defensive coordinator and one of his lead recruiters.
Mattison is viewed as one of the top defensive minds in football, college or pro, but also is one of the top recruiters in the country.
Hoke has attacked the trail like a devout Wolverine, rallying recruits to come to Ann Arbor and restore Michigan back to among the elite. I don't see him stopping this decade.
6. Florida
5 of 10Florida isn't going anywhere, so relax. Like Hoke, Muschamp went out and made a double hire to which he hired Charlie Weis to run the Gator offense.
But Weis also is a very, very good recruiter, evidenced by his days at Notre Dame where the Irish were always in the top 10 during his prime years in South Bend.
Muschamp also employs the Nick Saban method to recruiting, which focuses a whole lot of evaluating recruits and being through in your approach in recruiting them.
Combine that with Florida being "Florida," and it's easy to see the Gators will be chomping forward in the coming decade of recruiting.
5. Miami
6 of 10Al Golden is a great coach and has shown already to be a great recruiter for Miami. He has aligned himself well with the top in-state prep programs, which bodes well for the Canes getting top high school prospects around Florida.
With the snagging of Jelani Hamilton, Golden proved he could go toe to toe with UF and FSU for a player and win out.
With their backyard being rich with talent, their state being rich with talent, a great tradition, energetic head coach and a prime location along with a couple facility upgrades here and there, Miami has a chance to return back to the recruiting juggernaut the once were.
4. Auburn
7 of 10Auburn has been just ridiculous since Gene Chizik came to The Plains. He really, really stresses the family aspect of the program, and that gets to young players from high school looking for a new home.
Auburn has a gorgeous campus, plays in the SEC, has a title to their name now, Under Armour sponsorship, passionate fans and great facilities.
Yeah, it's easy to see why a recruit would go there. Even easier to put the Tigers on this list, as they'll be among the top recruiting schools for the next 10 years likely.
3. Florida State
8 of 10The Seminoles are back. I mean, they're ranked No. 5 to open the season, have had two back to back at-the-very-least top 10 classes and are hot again this year.
I don't see a scenario where FSU is not a dominant recruiting school for the next decade. Jimbo Fisher and his staff are very, very thorough, and he also uses the same methods that Nick Saban uses.
Besides, Florida State is no similar to being a dominant recruiting school, are they?
2. Alabama
9 of 10Alabama had fallen off, recruiting-wise, a bit before 2007 when Nick Saban came to Tuscaloosa. But since then, they've been a prime school on the trail in recruiing.
The Crimson Tide also are located in a state that produces great talent and battle Auburn every year for recruits. But Alabama has also shown the ability to reach out nationally for recruits, as Mark Ingram was from Michigan, and even Eddie Williams is from Florida.
As long as Nick Saban is there, the Tide will be a bully on the trail.
1. Texas
10 of 10Texas is showing this year that they are primed to dominate recruiting for years to come. Just the fact alone that they are the prime school in one of the three elite talent producing states will have hem consistently in the top 10 rankings.
Players grow up around the Lone Star state dreaming of being a Longhorn and hop at the first chance they get. Plus, Texas does a great start of staying ahead of the curve by recruiting players as juniors and offering them early.
Check out their 2012 class when you have time; it's on pace to be an all-timer.
