Transfer Prospects: Arsene Wenger Will Spend the Cash
So I've been away from reporting for a while. I took a break and watched the transfer window blossom. Of course, as an Arsenal fan, I waited in anticipation for the boss to sign a much needed central defender.
Disappointed
Arsene Wenger failed to move early. Instead, the papers were excited about Christopher Samba and Gary Cahill, who have been linked to the Gunners on a daily basis. But Mr. Wenger brought in Carl Jenkinson, Gervinho and now Alex Chamberlin.

Ok three signings in. Three for the future. Gervinho has impressed in preseason and seems already settled. Ryo Miyaichi has also been impressive with blistering pace and quick feet. Now that he has a work permit, he can really show Carlos Vela how it is done.
Saga is Over
But now comes the crucial part. The beginning of the season and Arsenal are on the verge of selling Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona. The saga is coming to an end. And THANK GOD for that!!
I am so relieved that this transfer is finally taking place and Arsenal can finally move on. A new captain will take over with his heart fully at the club.
I don't blame Fabregas. The Spaniard has given Arsenal many years of hard work, where he became a pass master. I can only wish him well for the future.
But as for the Frenchman...
Nasri is City bound?
Samir Nasri also seems on the verge of quitting the club. Nasri refuses to sign an extension to his current deal. According to Laurent Blanc, French National Coach, Nasri has been in talks to leave Arsenal.
It seems imminent that Manchester City will snap up another Arsenal player for a fee around £22 million.
I feel angry that we are selling to a rival club. I feel bitterly angry at Nasri who seems to think he is already bigger than the club. Nobody is bigger than a football club.
All this has left many pundits and Arsenal critics seriously worried. I have never seen Paul Merson sweat so much as when he was talking about Arsenal's chances in the league. Merson thinks Arsenal will struggle for fourth spot.
Now Arsenal are selling their two creative players, but that does not mean they will not buy. Wenger has immediate funds to step up the chase for Mata and bring in another midfielder. I think Parker or Barton would add much needed fight in the midfield. Mata is creative enough and Arshavin should play through the middle.
Use the funds to buy Cahill and Samba. Those are the players the team really need. I am hearing reports about Scott Dann. Although I am not against his arrival, Cahill and Samba are proven players in the league.
If these players come in by the end of the month, and Arsenal manage to hold off Manchester United and Liverpool, then the Gunners have every chance of challenging for the title.
