Cesc Fabregas Set to Move to Barcelona...Here We Go Again

It was only last week that Fabregas made headlines around the footballing world for turning up to a rain delayed Arsenal team photo. Just a week later, Fabregas is back in the media, this time for apparently agreeing to verbal terms with former club Barcelona.

According to Goal.com, Fabregas has put €5 million towards a move that would involve Barcelona paying a lump sum amount of €29 million plus a further €6 million down the track. All in all, the amount for Fabregas would total above €40 million, possibly convincing Arsenal to finally release the reins on their Spanish superstar.

Arsenal have been in the hunt recently for the likes of Juan Mata, and the sale of Fabregas would surely see Mata arrive at the club, most likely as his replacement. Along with this, Arsenal would probably hold onto Samir Nasri, who has been rumoured to leave the club in favour of Manchester City.

Arsenal have already let go of Gael Clichy this window, not yet signing an adequate replacement for his position. The Gunners haven't been very active this season, with the only major signing at the club being Gervinho from Lille. Other than this, Arsenal have only signed a few more youngsters.

Considering that they were not able to sustain their intensity throughout the entirety of the season last campaign, you would think that Arsenal would bolster their squad. Questions will be raised about whether they can challenge for a top four finish if they cannot make at least one high profile signing this window.

Cesc Fabregas would prove to be a massive loss for the club. Not only is he their creative spark going forward but also their captain on the field. He would join Alexis Sanchez, who also made a €40 million + move to the Camp Nou.
