Ohio State Football: Buckeyes Dispute Claim of New NCAA Allegations

Joel GreerJun 2, 2018

Before a claim of new allegations concerning the Ohio State football program made it through a normal news cycle, the OSU athletic department was in denial.

In a televised report Wednesday, ESPN’s Pat Forde reported, "The NCAA is investigating other potential allegations against Ohio State.

"This is basically going to be a two-pronged investigation," he added, referring to part one as the meeting between the NCAA and Ohio State in Indianapolis on Friday.

Because of the first set of allegations, head coach Jim Tressel resigned from the team and quarterback Terrelle Pryor left over the tattoo problem.

Four other players will miss the first five games of the upcoming season, while the team vacated the entire 2010 season.

The new allegations would be about previously discussed issues like Pryor and others receiving money, accepting free golf and the opportunity to buy automobiles at a discount.

While Forde said the NCAA has not been informed of the new allegations, Ohio State spokesman Jim Lynch, was quick to clear the air with Columbus Dispatch reporter Randy Ludlow. “The university has not received any additional allegations from the NCAA...We do not anticipate discussing any additional allegations on Friday," wrote Lynch, in a statement provided to the Dispatch.
