Do Chelsea Really Need More Va Va Voom?

TheChelseaBlog.orgNov 10, 2008

Ok, so with Abramovich reportedly holding on tighter than ever to the purse strings at Chelsea and Scolari rumoured to be given meagre rations for transfers in January, we were informed going into the weekend that Michael Owen – a snip at £3m-£6m was within the Chelsea manager’s budget and therefore a target to add to our frontline.

Now however, the tabloid’s have apparently had a look a bit further afield for us and have come up with another possibility – also pretty bargain basement by our usual spending standards – a certain ex-Arsenal man. Well why not? Thierry Henry would only cost us £5million and we have wanted to sign him in the past after all. Yes ok, so it was light-years ago, but let’s not split hairs after all the trouble the tabloids are going to on our behalf.

How could Chelsea not go for this one? I mean a miserly +25 goal difference so far this season is surely justification enough for bringing in a man voted Arsenal’s greatest ever player by gooners, isn’t it? Yeah right.

I suggest the press try a little harder this week.
