Massimiliano Allegri to Be Given Well-Deserved Contract Extension at AC Milan

Tim FontenaultJun 1, 2018

Three summers ago, Massimiliano Allegri left Serie C1 side Sassuolo after they earned a promotion to Serie B for the first time ever. His one season there earned him his first Serie A job with Cagliari. After two seasons with the Sardinians, he was given his release from the club in order for him to become the shock hiring as the new manager of Serie A giants AC Milan.

Less than a year later, Allegri was the manager of the Serie A champions.

Allegri came out of nowhere this year to become one of the biggest names in the world football managerial ring. The soon-to-be 44-year-old was able to handle some of the biggest personalities in football, including Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Antonio Cassano, Gennaro Gattuso, Robinho, and Alexandre Pato and lead Milan to its first Scudetto in seven years.

Despite dropping out of Coppa Italia in the semifinals and the Champions League in the Last 16, Milan show a lot of potential heading into this year and impressed many with their comeback victory over Inter Milan in last weekend's Supercoppa Italiana. This without having made a move yet in the transfer window to bolster their aging midfield, where Gennaro Gattuso and Clarence Seedorf started as central midfielders, Mark Van Bommel in his projected defensive role, and Kevin-Prince Boateng as anticipated in the trequartista spot.

With all he has already done for Milan, Allegri is about to be rewarded.

According to a Tuttosport report confirmed on Rossoneri Blog, the Italian is about to be given a contract extension, that will see him remain with the club through the 2013-14 season at least.

Very few managers have made it as far as Allegri has leading Milan in the last 20 years. After consecutive successful reigns of Arrigo Sacchi and Fabio Capello, only Alberto Zaccheroni and Carlo Ancelotti have lasted more than a full season.

The media and fans alike are singing the praises of Allegri. I doubt that will change soon.
