College Football 2012: Who Are No.1 Recruit Dorial Green Beckham's Main Suitors?

Edwin WeathersbyJun 7, 2018

Dorial Green-Beckham is considered by many to be the best high school football player and college prospect in the country. He's a dynamic WR that can do just about everything, and do it with excellence.

What's even hotter than his play is his recruitment, as it has become the talk of the recruiting industry. However, DGB doesn't do many interviews and his family has kept much under wraps.

Rumors are swirling and for this read, we're going to try to take a stab at who DGB likes the most.

Auburn Just Recently Played Host

Just at the turn of the month of August, Green-Beckham and his father took an unofficial visit to Auburn. The champs are recruiting DGB hard and he met with WR coach Trooper Taylor and OC Gus Malzahn.

Auburn is said to be a better trip than recruits realize going in, and it always surprises players, just ask Stefon Diggs.

While both DGB and his father declined to discuss the trip, any time you can get a player of this stature to come visit is a big plus.

Alabama Is a Strong Contender

The Tide are always a school that any recruit looks at when they offer. Nick Saban has turned Tuscaloosa into a hot spot for players with NFL aspirations.

Rumor has it that DGB has a good amount of affection for Alabama, and of course the Tide are returning the love back.

I think there is a solid chance that Alabama is one of the teams that makes the cut for DGB in the fall and gets an official visit.

Is Arkansas a Darkhorse?

Every time I try to do some snooping around Green-Beckham's recruitment, I always see Arkansas mentioned by various publications. This speaks volumes, in my opinion, to the respect Bobby Petrino gets as an offensive mind.

Think about it, there's a reason the Hogs have pretty much the best WR corps in the country right now, as Petrino and his offensive staff do a good job of developing WRs and scoring points.

Plus Arkansas is not too far from Springfield, MO where DGB resides and doesn't want go too far from.

Oklahoma the Favorite?

4 of 5

Oklahoma had DGB in for a visit earlier this summer, where his whole family was spotted on campus accompanying him. That's always a great sign for a school when a player brings his family with him.

The Sooners are another school not far from home, plus they're well, Oklahoma. What else can you say?

Oklahoma may be, emphasis on may be, the favorite for DGB. But we still have a long ways to go and that leads us to the next slide...

Will He Just Opt to Stay Home?

5 of 5

Hailing from Springfield, MO, it's no secret that Green-Beckham wants to stay close to home. You can probably tell that by the schools that I've mentioned in this story.

This is why many folks feel that Missouri sits in the driver's seat for DGB, as it stands right now. They're a great fit for him as he can stay in-state and basically in his backyard, plus we know Gary Pinkel's squad runs a wide open spread offense.

So he would catch a ton of passes and do it all in front of his family and friends in his native state.

Don't be shocked if Missouri lands the best player in the country.
