Manchester United Transfer Rumours: Sneijder Must Complete Summer Spending
If you're going to pay for a world-class sports car, you might as well upgrade the engine, and Manchester United has to put the cherry on top of their summer transfer spending.
Sir Alex Ferguson struck early, making numerous high-priced, flashy signings that rocked the sport. The Red Devils are coming off of league title and a runner-up finish in the Champions League, and the English side is clearly ready to make a massive charge at Barcelona atop the world stage.
Now, the only thing left is Wesley Sneijder.

The talented midfielder has been linked to Man U as the club's last big signing for some time, and now, there is finally action in the market for his services, as Ferguson has had informal talks about a transfer fee.
Needless to say, it's time to get a deal done.
Per Goal.com:
"When asked whether he'd be open to a move to United, Sneijder said that a formal offer hasn't been made yet, although he admitted that both clubs have been in touch about a summer transfer.
"Manchester United haven't made a formal approach as such. There's a chance that there have been unofficial talks though," revealed Sneijder to NOS.
"There's always contact," continued the former Real Madrid ace when questioned about a direct approach from United. "I don't know whether I'm interested in leaving the club. If something crosses my path, I have enough time to take a decision about it."
Sneijder then went on to say that a transfer is no certainty as there's a good chance that he will stay at Giuseppe Meazza, but added that it's up to Inter whether it want to sell or hold on to him.
"
If Ferguson pushes hard enough, and we should assume he will, Sneijder will be playing at Old Trafford this season. Manchester United needs a stout player in the midfield, and with interest on both sides, it will grease the wheels to push a deal through before the end of the month.
Furthermore, all summer long, the Red Devils have shown that money is no option, and after making it clear the club wasn't done spending, it would be awful shocking if Ferguson decided to clutch his purse strings and avoid doing what it takes to put Manchester United over the top.
The legendary side is poised to do great things and add another league crown, making a move a necessity. Man U may be spending a ton of cash, but you can't put a price on winning, even if it isn't the most financially solvent move.
Ferguson has avoided spending like Manchester City or Real Madrid have in the past and has made it clear that 2011 will be a make or break season for the club.
The iconic manager is spending to get Man U back to the top of football and Sneijder is a necessity at this juncture of the transfer window.
Sneijder is the final move that would bring the Red Devils' offseason to a fitting close and put the club in a position to do serious damage. The time for talk has past and now Ferguson must do what it takes to bring the midfielder to Old Trafford.
