Mbappé's Rollercoaster Season 🎢

Great Arsenal, You Beat Manchester United—But Can You Keep Going?

Callum D'SouzaNov 9, 2008

The one thing Arsenal have failed to do over the past season is maintain consistency, it seems whenever Arsenal get on a good streak it is hampered by poor play in what usually seems to be away matches. Arsenal have just come off an impressive win to fierce rivals Manchester United but the win will mean very little if Arsenal can't build on it and maintain some consistency.

Arsenal now have a tough run of matches which sees them play: Aston Villa at the Emirates, Manchester City at the City of Manchester Stadium, and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. All tough matches, and with Arsenal's season really only needing a loss to see them bundled out of the title race.

Nine points is expected out of those three matches and the only way they will achieve that is by keeping consistent

At times Arsenal have looked good this season, with big wins: A 3-0 against Newcastle, 4-0 win against Blackburn, and a 3-1 win at Bolton earlier this season, it looked like Arsenal were going to be extremely serious title contenders but then their lack of consistency kicked in and they had an awful loss to Hull and a draw which shouldn't of been to Sunderland.

Arsenal then steadied the ships with consecutive wins to Everton 3-1 and West Ham 2-0 but again the consistency factor kicked in as Arsenal's lack of it in the last two minutes cost them vital points against North London rivals Tottenham, and a horror display at Stoke City meant Arsenals season was half flushed all because of a lack of consistency.

But then came Manchester United, where a loss would have surely seen Arsenal done and dusted but it was not to be. Oh, we love you Samir! Arsenal maintained consistency right through the match and it paid off as Arsenal came away winners with a thrilling 2-1 encounter with their nemesis.

But if Arsenal want to keep on going they must find consistency in the formation and player performances. Arsenals season so far reads "WLWWWLDWWDLW", many good starts but consistency kicks in and their efforts in previous games go to waste.

With the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea so dominant at the moment Arsenal can't afford any more forks in the road—Arsenal need to buckle down and find consistency and get a winning streak going.
