Arsenal FC: Alex Oxlade Chamberlain Having a Medical at the Emirates

Arsenal is close to signing its transfer target Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, according to reports from the telegraph.co.uk.

Arsenal have been linked with the Southampton winger since the start of the transfer window and a move finally seems imminent.

Southampton valued the England U-21 international at £12 million and the Gunners were not willing to meet the valuation. However, latest reports have suggested that Arsenal has accepted Southampton's valuation and the transfer will take place soon.

Negotiations for 17-year-old Chambelain have been protracted, with Southampton understood to have been holding out for a sell on fee of around 40 percent.

Further talks have resulted in agreement being neared on a deal that would involve Arsenal paying around £7 million up front and then an additional £5 million dependent on various performance related add ons.

Today Arsenal FC shareholder Darren tweeted that it "Looks like Alex Chamberlain maybe having a medical today at Colney."

This tweet was followed by another by Darren stating that the medical was not today, but may take place in the next two days.

However, bbc.co.uk reports that Chamberlain is having a medical at Arsenal.

Arsenal midfielder Emmauel Frimpong has tweeted the following, "New Player Young And British #AFC #DEEEEENCH"

Let's hope Frimpong is referring to Alex Chamberlain as the "Young and British"!
