Georgia Football Schedule 2011: What To Know for Each Game

Brian JonesJun 3, 2018

Every year is a challenge for the Bulldogs.

No matter how things look before the season begins, there's always going to be some bumps in the road and championship teams know how to overcome them.

Georgia wants to be back in the championship position again, but they know it's not going to be easy because the 12 teams they are facing this year want to make sure they don't reach the Georgia Dome twice.

Here's a look at the 12 teams Georgia is facing this year and what fans need to know for each game.

Georgia vs. Boise State, Sept. 3, 8 p.m.

1 of 12

This will be the first time the Bulldogs take on Boise Sate since 2005 when the Broncos were defeated by UGA 48-13.

But this Boise State team is different and under the leadership of Heisman hopeful Kellen Moore.

They look to get a huge win against the Bulldogs at the Georgia Dome in the first big national game of the season.

Georgia vs. South Carolina, Sept. 10, 4:30 p.m.

2 of 12

This is a game the Bulldogs would love to win for so many reasons.

A win against the Gamecocks would give the Bulldogs a leg up on the SEC East race, and it would also give the Bulldogs revenge after South Carolina took out the Bulldogs last year 17-6.

WR Alshon Jeffery and RB Marcus Lattimore are two of the best skill players in the conference, so the Bulldogs are going to have their hands full against the defending SEC East champs.

Georgia vs. Coastal Carolina, Sept. 17

3 of 12

After facing two tough opponents, Georgia gets a (little) break when they take on Coastal Carolina.

This will be the first time UGA takes on the Chanticleers, and it should be an easy win.

QB Aramis Hillary, a transfer from South Carolina, will give the Bulldogs fits because he is a FBS talent playing on the FCS level. But it's nothing the Bulldogs can't overcome to earn the win and move on to their fourth game of the year.

Georgia at Mississippi, Sept. 24

4 of 12

The Ole Miss Rebels struggled last year, but under the leadership of head coach Houston Nutt, they look to bounce back and make some noise in the SEC West.

The last time Georgia faced Ole Miss was in 2007 when the Bulldogs hammered Ole Miss 45-17.

Georgia has not lost to Ole Miss since 1996, and by the looks of things, Georgia won't lose to the Rebels anytime soon.

Georgia vs. Mississippi State, Oct. 1

5 of 12

This is another game Georgia wants to win in the worst way.

After losing to the Bulldogs 24-12, Miss State went on to win nine games including a win at the Gator Bowl.

QB Chris Relf is a dangerous athlete that is a game-changer and RB Vick Ballard had 20 rushing touchdowns last year.

Georgia may have owned Miss State in the past, but the (other) Bulldogs are clearly on the rise.

Georgia at Tennessee, Oct. 8

6 of 12

Georgia got the better of Tennessee, but the Vols lead the all-time series by four games.

Tennessee finished with the same record as the Bulldogs (6-7), and they are also looking like a team that's more improved.

QB Tyler Bray had a strong second half and looks to build on that this season.

Georgia at Vanderbilt, Oct. 15

7 of 12

Georgia leads the all-time series by a large margin, and they defeated Vandy 43-0 last season.

But this game will not be as easy as one would think because any road game in the SEC is tough.

RB Warren Norman is very talented and LB Chris Narve is no joke.

But if Georgia takes care of its business, it should be an convincing win.

Georgia vs. Florida, Oct. 29

8 of 12

Ah, the Georgia-Florida game. It's always a game Bulldog fans mark on their calendar, and it should be a very interesting game this year.

Florida won the contest in overtime last year, but the Gators have a new coach in Will Muschamp and looking to bounce back from a disappointing 8-5 season.

No matter what Florida's record is at this point of the season, this will (and has been) a tough game for the Bulldogs to win.

Georgia vs. New Mexico State, Nov. 5

9 of 12

The last time Georgia took on the Aggies was in 2002 when the Bulldogs won big 41-10.

This year's game should be a similar outcome as the Aggies are still trying to find their identity with head coach DeWayne Walker.

Should be a good warm-up game before they face their last three games of the year.

Georgia vs. Auburn, Nov. 12

10 of 12

This is the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry, and this game will be more intense this season because Georgia would love to knock off the defending national champs.

Auburn leads this series by two games, but the Bulldogs have won four of the last six meetings. Cam Newton is gone from Auburn, but RB Michael Dyer is back along with RB Ontario McCaleb.

It will be an interesting game to say the least.

Georgia vs. Kentucky, Nov. 19

11 of 12

This will be Georgia's final home game of the year, and they look to end their home schedule on a high with a win against the Kentucky Wildcats.

Georgia defeated Kentucky last year 44-31, but the last time these two faced each other in Athens, the Wildcats stole a win from the Bulldogs.

Kentucky is a team on the rise with head coach Joker Phillips, so this will be another difficult contest for the Bulldogs.

Georgia at Georgia Tech, Nov. 26

12 of 12

The final game of the season is always against the Yellow Jackets, and even though the Bulldogs lead the series by a wide margin, the last three games have come down to the wire. Georgia won last year 42-34, but Tech gave the Dawgs fits with their option offense.

QB Tevin Washington and RB Roddy Jones are tough runners and LB Julian Burnett will give the offense fits.

Tech is not expected to have a great season, but this game should be another classic.
