Tottenham Transfer Rumours: 8 Potential Additions Who Will Bring the EPL Title

Kyle SkovJun 7, 2018

Tottenham Hotspur were a surprise two seasons ago when they earned a Champions League place. They went even further and shocked everyone with their success.

Tottenham is a team that could contend for a Premier League title if they addressed problems in their lineup.

They have considerable talent in place with the best English manager in the game right now. The likelihood of a title may be slim but it does not mean that there is no chance.

Spurs could make magic out of this season since they only have one focus and that is on league play. They are in Europe but Harry Redknapp and his men will not have their focus on the Europa League, instead they will keep themselves fresh to earn three points every match.

Here are eight signings that will help make the EPL title chase easier for Tottenham.

Chris Samba

1 of 8

Chris Samba is a big imposing force in the Premier League.

With his size and strength he can become a staple in Tottenham’s backline. He also is a player whose athleticism will be important to the club.

Tottenham play attractive football that has won a lot of fans and supporters over but they have not had the physical presence to oppose the bigger clubs.

Chris Samba would be the perfect player to impose against those strong athletic strikers like Didier Drogba, Wayner Rooney and Carlos Tevez.

Gary Cahill

2 of 8

Gary Cahill is going to leave Bolton and Tottenham need to sign the English international.

Cahill helped Owen Coyle and Bolton succeed and even at one point in the season look like they were going to make it into Europe.

Cahill brings controlled demeanor to the game. His calmness in defense and ability to be confident and send strong passes out of the back.

Fernando Llorente

3 of 8

Fernando Llorente is a goal scorer who is a tall target man whose game would translate to the Premier League.

Llorente is a striker who can impose his size and physical play and translate it to goals.

He is a more talented player than Peter Crouch making him the perfect fit to slip into Crouch’s role.

Llorente is the target man with skill that Tottenham wants.

Emanuel Adebayor

4 of 8

Emanuel Adebayor is a proven Premier League player.

He has shown his skill with teams such as Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid and the quality of teams he has played for certainly shows how good of a player he is.

With rumors that Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch are leaving Tottenham and the possibility that Roman Pavyluchenko is going to leave also strikers are going to be coveted at White Hart Lane.

Adebayor would be a great signing even if it was just on a season long loan. He will be pivotal as he is a player who can score and be able to do it in a dynamic fashion.

Mauro Zarate

5 of 8

Mauro Zarate has played the last three seasons in the Serie A with Lazio but his falling out with the manager has opened him up to a move away from the Italian capital.

Zarate is a player who is good on the ball and can bring in the players around him.

He plays well as a second striker especially of a player that has speed. If Jermain Defoe stays with Tottenham he would be the perfect pairing with Zarate.

The partnership would excel and see Tottenham shocking many teams.

Lassana Diarra

6 of 8

Lassana Diarra is a player that has the ability to make connections from the backline to the offensive orchestrators quickly.

Diarra does not score goals but he can make the passes to set up the goals and he is also a player who can take the ball off of the center backs and send the long ball to unleash the counter attack.

Diarra would most likely be behind Sandro in the pecking order but this does not mean he would not earn any time with Harry Redknapp’s team.

Lassana Diarra is a player that has too much skill to deny.

Juan Mata

7 of 8

Juan Mata is an orchestrator who can play on the wing and as a center attacking midfielder.

Mata is a Spanish international that brings flare and class to the field and with the likelihood of Aaron Lennon leaving Tottenham Mata would be a good replacement.

He is quick but does not have the pace of Aaron Lennon but he instead brings more confidence and boldness as far as his movement in the final third.

He makes great passes to thread the needle and to free his teammates. Mata is a player who can beat defenders but does it more then with just his speed.

Joey Barton

8 of 8

Joey Barton what can anyone say about the man besides he is an Englishman’s Englishman. He is a hard-nosed player whose lack of size does not stop his heart.

Barton goes into every tackle strong and he brings a passion for the game that is not displayed by many players.

Now that Newcastle has put Barton on the chopping block he is looking for a new club situation.

Barton would fit well on the wing at Tottenham. He is not a player that makes fans drop their jaws, but his effort gains their respect.
