Liverpool Captain Steven Gerrard: Fantastic Videos of His Top 12 Goals
Steven Gerrard, captain of Liverpool Football Club, has done it all during his career with the Reds which so far spans over 550 games and an astonishing 140 goals.
Since making his debut back in 1998, he has played in almost every position for Liverpool including both full back positions, he has undergone a positional transformation from a defensive midfielder to a box-to-box type to almost a second striker, he has won nearly every club-level trophy going and has been awarded a hat-full of personal accolades.
Though he missed much of last season and will be sidelined until September at the earliest, as he recovers from a groin operation, Gerrard remains a vital cog of the Anfield side and once he gets back to fitness will, in no uncertain terms, come back to show just how superb a player he is. Make no mistake of it—new signings or not, great start to the season or not, Gerrard is a player Liverpool need and he will once again prove himself one of the finest in the Premier League.
Nobody needs me to reel off the superlatives or describe the many attributes of Steven Gerrard.
For once, I'll stay relatively quiet and just let the stats—and the videos—speak for themselves.

Honourable Mention: Champions League Final vs. AC Milan
1 of 13Though not his most spectacular or a thunderous strike from distance, has Steven Gerrard ever scored a more important goal?
At 3-0 in the Ataturk Stadium at half time in the Champions League final to AC Milan, Gerrard headed Liverpool's first goal and set them on their way to pulling level and winning the match on penalties.
This list is about the "spectacular-ness" of strikes, so officially this goal wouldn't be included—but no list of Steven Gerrard goals is complete without it.
12. Premier League vs. Aston Villa
2 of 13In at No.12...!
A great team goal involving Vladi Smicer, Gerrard, Didi Hamann, Gerrard, Jari Litmanen, Danny Murphy and Gerrard again with a rifled finish.
Liverpool won 3-0 in this league match with Gerrard's goal coming in between a Murphy brace.
11. Champions League vs. Marseille
3 of 13This was the first group stage match of the 2008-09 Champions League.
Marseille had taken an early lead but Gerrard's sumptuous curler leveled things up just a couple of minutes later. The captain won the match for the Reds a few minutes afterwards with his second goal.
10. Premier League vs. Sheffield Wednesday
4 of 13Late in 1999, Steven Gerrard opened his Liverpool account with a terrific goal against Sheffield Wednesday. Picking the ball up 40 yards from goal he ran at the Owls defence, taking on two players in the process before firing across the 'keeper into the far corner.
9. Premier League vs. Aston Villa
5 of 13Opening day of the 2007-08 season and Liverpool were desperate to get off to a winning start.
A first half, Martin Laursen's own goal had set the Reds on their way to three points before Gareth Barry equalised late on. Coming into injury time, Gerrard won a free kick outside the Aston Villa penalty area and dispatched it himself right into the top corner.
Watch the replay for the best view of the goal.
8. Premier League vs. Newcastle United
6 of 13Another belter of a free kick; this time Gerrard smashes one into the top corner after being teed up by Didi Hamann, leaving Shay Given no chance.
Again, see the replay for best results.
7. Premier League vs. Everton
7 of 13Great first touch, great piece of skill, absolutely fantastic arrowed shot into the far corner.
Even better that it was against Everton.
6. FA Cup Final vs. West Ham United
8 of 13A somehow lesser-remembered strike of Gerrard's on account of what came later; nonetheless, this is a fantastic strike on the volley.
Alonso's hoisted cross towards Cisse and Morientes was knocked down and Stevie steamed in to lash past Shaka Hislop.
5. Champions League vs. Olympiacos
9 of 13Into the top five now, and I doubt many Reds fans would need reminding of the scene when this goal went in.
A full five months before that fateful night in Istanbul, it didn't even look like Liverpool were going to get out of the group stage. A goal down to Olympiacos at half time in a match the Reds needed to win by two goals, it looked like UEFA Cup football would be on show after Christmas.
Neil Mellor and Flo Sinama-Pongolle turned the game around before a goal made by Liverpool's academy system—Carragher to Mellor to Gerrard—saw the Reds go through late on in spectacular style.
4. Premier League vs. Manchester United
10 of 13Separating my top four became very difficult to do!
In at No. 4 is a belter against the Mancs from the 2000-01 season. Robbie Fowler laid the ball off neatly and Gerrard did the rest from 30 yards out, giving Barthez no chance at all.
3. FA Cup Final vs. West Ham United
11 of 13What an end to an epic FA Cup final.
West Ham had led 2-0 and 3-2 and going into injury time; Liverpool looked to have run out of options.
So Gerrard just smacked the ball as hard as he could, into Hislop's bottom corner. Nicely done.
2. Premier League vs. Southampton
12 of 13I'll be honest, I've always thought of this one as my favourite Stevie G. goals, but somehow it's coming in second place!
Just an absolute thumping strike from a very young Gerrard. The crossbar is still probably shaking now.
1. Premier League vs. Middlesbrough
13 of 13Audacious.
Incredible.
Unerringly accurate.
Absolutely brilliant.
