Dallas Cowboys Free Agency Rumors: Malcom Floyd Maybe Too Costly, but Great Fit
Dallas Cowboys fans are still waiting for the ‘Boys to make a big splash in free agency, but the pool is steadily shrinking.
The most prized free agent of 2011, Nnamdi Asomugha, now calls Philadelphia home and safety Michael Huff decided to re-sign with the Oakland Raiders instead of the Dallas Cowboys.
What’s left and who’s left for the Cowboys to go after? Well, there are actually a couple of players the Cowboys can sign to fill a few holes on Rob Ryan’s defense.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Yesterday, Dallas re-signed safety Gerald Sensabaugh to a one-year deal worth $2.5 million. His name doesn’t necessarily make your blood jump, but he’s a solid player.
Sensabaugh is probably best known for losing a deep ball in the lights against the Vikings a couple of years ago in the playoffs, but other than that, I think it's good the ‘Boys held on to him.
He was looking for a larger payday, but this is about as good as it gets for him.
Dallas won’t nab anyone with a name larger than Asomugha this offseason, well, unless they pull off a blockbuster trade, but that’s unlikely to happen.
The next name on the list for the Cowboys is Abram Elam. He was with the Browns last season, and he’s familiar with defensive coordinator Rob Ryan’s defense.
He had a decent 2010 with 79 tackles and two picks and can help guide the Cowboys secondary in understanding Ryan’s defense. He’s not a blockbuster name and won’t help fill the seats in Jerry World if that’s what fans want.
At this point in the game, I think the Cowboys need to look for players to fill holes and role players. Terrance Newman, Mike Jenkins and Gerald Sensabaugh are the recognized names in the secondary and not much has changed on the defensive front or in the offensive backfield.
There were rumors that defensive end Jason Hatcher wouldn’t be back after a few teams expressed interest in him, but he re-signed with Dallas for $6 million with a $2.5 million signing bonus.
Hatcher is still developing. The Cowboys expressed serious interest in keeping the sixth-year man, and did just that by inking him to a three-year contract.
Lastly, Dallas is looking to add a third wide receiver after releasing Roy Williams.
Wide receiver Malcom Floyd is a free agent, and the Vikings, Ravens, Cardinals, Bears and 49ers have interest. Floyd's agent is looking for $5 million, which is probably more than Dallas is willing to give. He also won’t receive the type of playing time as a Cowboy than he will if he signed with another club.
But the ceiling on Floyd is at a decent height, and if Bryant goes down with another injury this season, then that could be Floyd’s time to shine.
It’s a long shot, but if Dallas is looking to make a splash and add depth, he could be their man.
