Randy Moss: Committee Needs Overhaul If Moss Isn't a 1st Ballot Hall of Famer

David DanielsJun 7, 2018

Randy Moss is the greatest wide receiver in NFL history not named Jerry Rice.

There isn’t any debate about it.  Who else could make a cornerback see his life flash before his very eyes by simply putting a hand in the air?  He may have similar statistics to players like Terrell Owens and Marvin Harrison but there is no phrase, “That guy was Owens’d,” or, “He got Harrison’d.”

If a defensive back gets embarrassed, he was Moss’d.

I don’t know what the Hall of Fame committee has against the wide receiver position, but it’s obvious they have no idea what they’re doing.  For someone like Lynn Swann to be in the Hall is baffling by itself, but for players like Cris Carter and Tim Brown to be excluded is an absolute joke.

Believe it or not, the committee may just strike again when Moss becomes eligible in five years.

According to NBC, one voter doesn’t believe Moss deserve to be a first-ballot inductee saying: “He’d roll over and die like a dog for teams when they needed him most.  He quit on his team in Minnesota.  He quit for two years in Oakland.  And he quit [in 2009] in New England.”

Hopefully the rest of the committee isn’t as foolish as the voter quoted, but that hope may be a slim one.  Again, if they can keep out Carter and Brown without any reason, they’ll make Moss wait as well.

On that note, Roddy White of the Atlanta Falcons offered a phenomenal idea via Twitter (something that doesn’t happen often from athletes) on Tuesday saying: “If he don't get in on the first ballot than only football players should vote for the Hall of Fame cause than means (you) just hating on Moss.”

If the NFL’s list of Top 100 Players didn’t turn out so poorly that would sound like a plan that should be implemented right away.  The players would know more than anyone who deserves to be honored or not. After all, they actually play the game.

There have been many players nicknamed the “Freak” in league history, but there’s only one SuperFreak and that’s Randy Moss.  Gifted with jaw-dropping size, speed and leaping ability, he is the most feared, most explosive player ever, maybe only behind the great Jim Brown.

If you don’t agree with that statement, check out who the No. 1 weapon was on the two highest scoring offenses in league history.

If the Hall of Fame committee fails to induct Randy Moss in his first year of eligibility, fans should demand it be blown up and like Roddy White said, players should control the voting process.
