Florida State Football Recruiting 2012: What Other Prospects Do the 'Noles Need?
As it stands right now, the Florida State Seminoles have the second ranked recruiting class for the class of 2012.
They have a verbal commitment from the nation's top recruit in Mario Edwards. They have two other five star defensive ends in Chris Casher and Dante Fowler Jr. They have a number of other solid commitments from players that will help Florida State return to dominance and to continue the trend of Jimbo Fisher being an excellent recruiter.
But who else do they need to fill out the class and get the top ranking yet again?
There are a number of guys showing interest in the 'Noles, but there are a number of guys that are must signs.
Eddie Goldman: Defensive Tackle, 6'3 310 lbs.
Eddie Goldman is a monster, there's no doubting that, but pair him with Mario Edwards and that's a ridiculous defensive line. Add in Tim Jernigan from the 2011 class and Casher and Fowler Jr. and that's a heavily talented defensive line.
Goldman is the second rated player in the country behind Edwards and he has expressed how much he loves defensive line coach Oddel Haggins and his coaching philosophy.
Goldman would cement this class with his commitment and would make this defensive line one of the best in college football for years to come.
Andrus Peat: Offensive Tackle, 6'7 35 lbs.
Remember the last true freshman left tackle to start for the Seminoles? He's still there. Andrew Datko has been nothing short of amazing for Florida State and he's likely to have another great year in his senior campaign, but Florida State must be prepared for his graduation.
Andrus Peat could start on day one for Florida State, although he will have some competition. Peat is a massive offensive lineman with the frame to add more bulk and size. He's interested in FSU, but more importantly he's a must have recruit.
Nelson Agholor: Athlete, 6'2 180 lbs.
Nelson Agholor is a dynamic athlete. He's a very versatile player who would do nothing but help this recruiting class. The five star recruit out of Tampa, Florida has shown interest in the 'Noles, but he still hasn't pulled the trigger.
Agholor has the size to be a wide receiver, but his athleticism could help in the return game as well. There's no telling where Fisher would line him up, but there's no doubt he will be a playmaker at the next level.
Stefon Diggs: Wide Receiver, 6'0" 185 lbs.
Stefon Diggs is another must have for the 'Noles. He's fast and athletic and he could be a great fit in Fisher's offense, and on top of that, he could provide depth.
There is no stand-out receiver at Florida State right now and the position is in high demand.
Diggs could be that guy in no time. Aside from that, he's the second best wide receiver in the class, which would beef up Florida State's class ranking.
Landon Collins: Defensive Back, 6'0" 200 lbs.
Landon Collins is a Louisiana boy, which will make it hard to pry him away from LSU. He has expressed a desire to play in the SEC, but he's also shown interest in Florida State.
Collins is a big defensive back who isn't afraid to run up and make a hit, but he's also great in coverage.
Adding a player like Collins to an already talented defensive backfield can be nothing but successful. Collins would be the icing on the cake of another great class for Jimbo Fisher.
