Paul Ince Trying Spalletti’s Tactics On Chelsea?

TheChelseaBlog.orgNov 7, 2008

Chelsea have to wait until Sunday to lay the ghosts of the Roma game to rest but whilst much of the talk between now and then will no doubt be questioning our credentials after that performance, Blackburn boss Paul Ince doesn’t have any such doubt about Chelsea’s capabilities.

Chelsea travel to Ewood Park on Sunday and Paul Ince isn’t expecting an easy ride because not only does the Rovers boss think Chelsea are ‘awesome’ but he also believes they are a better side now than they were under Jose Mourinho. In sharp contrast to Gianluca Vialli who suggests Chelsea have lost the consistency they once had, Ince says “They are absolutely awesome, under Mourinho they were a fantastic outfit, one of the best, but had a lot of 1-0 results and based their game on defensive play.  Now they play more expansive and attractive football and they are a joy to watch. It always was Manchester United and Arsenal you enjoyed watching because of the way they played and now you can add Chelsea to that. Some of their play has been absolutely delightful.  Chelsea are starting to play with that arrogance that Manchester United and Arsenal have and that makes them very dangerous. We always knew they were solid and now under Scolari their football is different class.”

Very complimentary words from the Blackburn boss, who must surely be anticipating a bit of a backlash after our defeat. I wonder if he realises Spalletti built us up with similar compliments before his Roma side took advantage of the effect this seemed to have?
