Manchester United Transfers: 10 Possible January Targets for Sir Alex
Manchester United has already started the new season with some solid transfers this far. Bringing in David de Gea, Phil Jones and Ashley Young has already put United in much better squad strength than they were last season.
'Til now, the total money spent sums up to nearly 50 million. But it is not over yet.
United has to set up some new shoes to be at its best. The departure of Paul Scholes has indeed been a big blow for the Red Devils. Dimitar Berbatov is now linked with a move away from United by the newly cash-rich PSG from the French league.
Rio Ferdinand's days at the center of the defense are numbered and he is in the twilight of an exciting career. Gary Neville, another United legend, also retired from the game last season. United also left long-term player John O Shea to Sunderland on a transfer.
Looking here we find United perhaps still needs players, to strengthen the squad, and add on total value to the team. United does not want to repeat their performance against Barcelona like the UCL final of 2010-11 and so value addition to the Red Devils can go on.
While we are too indulged in reading what more can United buy this summer before the market closes, let us take a look at the 10 possible options United may take a chance at in the snow-capped winter of Manchester.
Are you feeling cold? But perhaps the January window is going to be hot enough. Let us sneak peek the future.
Jordan Ibe: The Young Wonder
1 of 10According to local papers, Sir Alex Ferguson is taking a strong interest in the 15-year-old starlet.
The attacking prospect of Wycombe has recently scored a wonder goal and is on the charts of media and the hot list of Manchester United.
Though it will take some considerable time to develop a 15-year-old, Ibe can definitely see a welcome to Red Devils if he continues his prolific form.
Watch the video of the goal here.
Erick Torres: Another "Chicharito" in the Making
2 of 10It is said that the natural heir of Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez at Mexican club Chivas de Guadalajara, is the next Chicharito also.
Torres has been tracked by Manchester United scouts owing to his considerable good form in the Mexican league, after Chicharito left the club.
Better know as "El Cubo," Torres is tricky, fast, can score from outside the box, with headers and also with close-range classics. This gives the 18-year-old nearly all the attributes to perform with team United with his rapid movement style.
And the price will also be cheap for the rising striker. See him here.
Emilio Izaguirre: Fortifying at the Back
3 of 10A solid left back in a prolific form since he joined Celtic last season, Emilio has been tracked by United as a transfer target. Emilio himself declared on the reports that he has attracted interest from United.
The 25-year-old Honduran has been solid at Celtic's back, and can necessarily go forward if it urges to a player of strength and stamina, Emilio can be a definite good addition to the United left back position.
However, if Patrice Evra regains his superior form, then Emilio may be a surplus for United, as they already have Fabio Silva to cover that position as a back up.
Nicolas Gaitan: Wings to Fly High
4 of 10United have been seriously thinking to strengthen their midfield positions for sure. Now the new name that has been linked by the Portuguese media is that United is having interest in Benfica Winger Nicolas Gaitan.
The 23-year-old moved to Benfica from Boca Juniors in 2010 and has made 26 appearances thus far, netting seven goals. Gaitan can play as an attacking midfield along the centre, though his preferable position is definitely as a left winger.
Ryan Giggs of United will also retire next season, and Gaitan can be a future addition to the team, if the Scot magician Ferguson thinks so.
Paulo Henrique Ganso: Finally for Scholes?
5 of 10Manchester United has targeted in recent months Santos midfielder and playmaker Ganso.
The player, at 21, is ideal as a Paul Scholes replacement, though he is not as tough as the United legend.
Ganso possesses extreme natural Brazilian football talents, with killer passes and awesome control over the ball. He can invade the defense and set up goals for his team mates from almost no free spaces.
However, AC Milan also has a strong interest in the player, and Ganso can always take up Milan ahead of United, owing to his dream and the Brazilian trends. The player will not come cheap, though, as nearly a sum of £25m can be asked for the player by his club Santos.
Jack Rodwell: Once a Blue, Now Will Be a Red?
6 of 10Jack Rodwell is one of the most promising England stars and has been a major point of attraction in the transfer market from big clubs.
At 20, he is strong, tall and full of energy and can play from box to box covering a wide area of the game.
Much like the ex-Everton man and United forward Wayne Rooney, Rodwell is also vibrant and can bear huge work load for the team.
While United midfield suffered a hole owing to the departure of Owen Hargreaves and weakening form of Michael Carrick, Jack can be the man to boost new energy in the team.
However, he will never come cheap and United may have to bid at around £20m to land this midfielder.
Adryan: The U-17 Brazilian Whizkid
7 of 10Said to be the Brazilian whizkid, Flamengo's Adryan has attracted interests from big clubs like Manchester United and Barcelona already.
Manchester wanted him on a trial last year only, but that did not materialize.
The U-17 player has been set at a price of about £10m, and if he comes to United, he will join his fellow Brazilian friends Anderson, Rafael and Fabio.
See Adryan here.
Teteh Bangura: An End of Days for Dimitar Berbatov?
8 of 10The Sierra Leone striker has already been linked with a move to Manchester United recently.
He is currently for Swedish side AIK Solna and can be brought with a much lesser price if pursued.
With 15 goals in 15 games, Teteh is rocking the charts sending alarms to big clubs.
You can see the details of this rumor here.
Marek Hamsik: Can United Spend to Bring This Magician?
9 of 10Wesley Sneijder's transfer is proving too costly for Manchester United. Even if the clubs agree on the transfer fee, Sneijder's wage demands are much higher for United to cope with.
And so here comes Marek Hamsik, whom United has been following for a long time. Hamsik, 23, is an integral part of the Italian side Napoli and has scored a total of 47 goals in his four seasons for the club.
He is a brilliant playmaker, has an eye for detail and neat passing, excellent vision and can also score occasionally.
Though this player will never come cheap for United, still, the wages for the Slovakian captain can perfectly fit in for United.
Wesley Sneijder: If Not Now, Then Perhaps January?
10 of 10What more needs to be said about this?
Inter Milan's interest in Carlos Tevez, and recent reports claming that Inter agrees to the fee by United, sees Sneijder moving to Old Trafford soon.
However, the only constraint that remains here is the personal terms of Sneijder, and so if the move fails now, can we see him in the winter?
Sneijder is the man. Come on, get him, United.
