World Football: The Top 4 Incomplete Transfers This Summer

Adrian AgiusJun 7, 2018

With the world football transfer window in full swing, there have been a number of deals signed, sealed and delivered to respective clubs around Europe.

However, as is always the case, there have been those "apparent" high profile moves which seem to never get moving. Whether it be because of other moves in the market, too high asking prices or public outrage, certain clubs just seem to never lure certain players.

This summer transfer window has been full of such non-completed deals. So let us take a look at the top four transfers that haven't materialized during this window.

Hopefully the final few days of the window can bring about an outcome in each of these cases.

4. Neymar

1 of 4

Name: Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior

Age: 19

Club: Santos

Position: Striker

Goals Last Season: 12 goals in 25 matches

Expected Transfer Fee: €40 million

Clubs Interested: Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City

Neymar became the hottest property on the transfer market after his goals from Brazil in a round of International friendlies. From there the youngster has gone from strength to strength scoring goals, grabbing assists, all whilst showing off his sublime skill.

He is certainly a confident player and a star for tomorrow, but don't expect him to come cheap, with Santos valuing their man at €40 million.

3. Wesley Sneijder

2 of 4

Name: Wesley Sneijder

Age: 27

Position: Attacking Midfielder

Goals Last Season: Seven goals in 38 matches

Expected Transfer Fee: €30 million to €40 million

Clubs Interested: Manchester United, Manchester City

This transfer rumour kind of developed by itself until it was answered by parties involved.

Sir Alex Ferguson came to the conclusion that United did not need Sneijder, yet reports continued to surface that he had agreed to terms and was settling the finer points of his contract.

Not long after United became involved with the Dutch superstar, so too did Manchester City. But after signing Aguero, it looks as though United might just have the final say.

2. Carlos Tevez

3 of 4

Name: Carlos Alberto Tévez

Age: 27

Club: Manchester City

Position: Striker

Goals Last Season: 23 goals in 39 matches

Expected Transfer Fee: €50 million

Clubs Interested: Corinthians, Real Madrid, Inter Milan

When Carlos Tevez came out in January and said that he wanted to leave Manchester City, he caused a stir in the European football community. However, Tevez stayed the rest of the season in Manchester and ultimately lead City to a Champions League birth and silverware in the form of the FA Cup.

However, fast forward a few months and we are back to the same situation. Tevez wants to leave, and this time there is big money on the table for the Argentinian.

Sergio Aguero is now at the club and could serve as the replacement for Tevez. Although if he does stay, I am sure he will be used by Roberto Mancini.

1. Cesc Fabregas

4 of 4

Name: Cesc Fàbregas

Age: 24

Club: Arsenal

Position: Attacking Midfielder

Goals Last Season: Nine goals in 35 matches

Expected Transfer Fee: €30 million to €40 million

Clubs Interested: Barcelona, AC Milan

The Cesc Fabregas transfer saga erupted just after the 2010 World Cup, and since then has not stopped. You wouldn't be blamed for thinking that Cesc was a Barcelona player.

However, a string of rejected bids, matched with a number of big money signings by Barca has seen Fabregas stay at Arsenal.

His high profile transfer scenario ranks in recent memories as the biggest non-transfer to ever be completed.
