Liverpool Transfer Rumours: Liverpool and Others Eyeing Teen Prodigy
Rumors have surfaced claiming that Liverpool FC are planning a shocking move for 14-year-old Victorien Angban of Stade d'Abidjan.
Angban, who played at this year's FIFA U-17 World Cup, was a strong fixture in Cote d'Ivoire's midfield as the team pulled off some impressive results before eventually bowing out to France in the Round of 16.
While the stars of the tournament were his attacking teammates Drissa Diarrassouba and new Tottenham signing Souleymane Coulibaly, Angban, a central or attacking midfielder, put in solid performances, distributing the ball well and dictating play with his physical style.
Although he is just 14 years of age, Angban displayed a knowledge of the game far beyond his years and maturity in his play, and now Liverpool are looking to bring in the Ivorian youngster.
However, they are facing stiff competition for the teenager's signature, with Stade D'Abidjan president Abi Koffi Richmond telling skysports.com that there could possibly be more European clubs involved:
""Liverpool has not agreed anything with me yet, I have nothing written. They are a great club and respected club, I do not need to tell them how to do their work. I have contact from them through some agents but they are not the only club interested in the boy."
"
In fact, local publication Sport Ivoire reported that Barcelona and Manchester City were monitoring the progress of Angban who, despite his young age, is part of his club's senior team.
He is still very young, and at the moment a work permit would be a definite issue, but Angban has undeniable quality on the field and a move to Europe, where he could follow in the footsteps of his footballing idol Yaya Toure, could be impending.
