Top Nine Goals of the Week

This week’s offering of the best strikes from the last seven days begins with an omission from last week’s list, with the Russian Premier Liga providing us with one of the memorable overhead volleys likely to be seen this season.

With Spartak Nalchik ahead, Shinnik Yaroslavl equalised with a stunning, acrobatic volley from Roman Monarev, who scored from an angle reminiscent of Marco van Basten’s famous strike in the 1988 Euro Championships final.

But attention quickly turns to our current list, which is busting with jaw-dropping goals from across Europe. While many were quick to call goal two the goal of the season in the Premier League, even though goal three may arguably be technically superior, goal No. 1 may actually be the pick of the strikes on our list.

And in a mini-battle of their own, goals seven and eight battle it out to be the best chip of the week.
