Arsenal F.C.: Overview of the Gunners' Transfer Season so Far...

Stefan GouyetJun 7, 2018

After a disappointing season, Arsenal FC was expected to make huge personnel changes. The EPL season ended in mid-May, and it's now the beginning of July. Since then, the Gunners have completed the signing of...Carl Jenkinson.

To many Arsenal supporters, enough is enough. It's been over six years since the Gunners won any kind of trophy. And after being so close last season, that's too much to bear. I am not exactly an Arsenal fan, but I do support them.

The issue is that I am so angry at manager Arsene Wenger and the board. The team has played nowhere near the level shown during the 2003-04 unbeaten campaign. And Arsenal isn't doing anything about it.

After last season, many Arsenal fans expected Wenger to make a bunch of great signings during the summer. Yes, there is still another two months left until the transfer window closes. However, there doesn't appear to be any movement regarding the Gunners' potential transfers.

Instead, there appears to be a huge exodus of Arsenal's best players. The ever-reliable fullback Gael Clichy has already departed the Emirates for Manchester City, and Samir Nasri looks set to follow (to Manchester United or City).

In addition, the Cesc Fabregas transfer saga looks like it will finish with the Spaniard leaving for Barcelona. With Nasri and Fabregas gone, will Wenger need to have a center midfield partnership of Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere? That is a recipe for a disaster.

But there are even more possible departures from Arsenal. There are new rumors that Theo Walcott will be leaving. The rumors have him staying in London and moving to Chelsea, which would be a bizarre deal. But nobody would blame Walcott for wanting to leave (if he actually does), as his years with the Gunners haven't been the greatest.

Finally, Nicklas Bendtner seems to be on his way out, but this will be one of the only transfers that Arsenal fans will be happy about.

So where does this leave Arsenal? Gunners fans have watched their team go down a very steep downward slope in the past eight years. Now it's time for a change, and it's time to buy good players.

Unfortunately, Arsene Wenger may have different ideas. His idea (as well as the board's) is to sell all the team's best players and not make any transfers. Of course, this may not be the case, as there is still a lot of time for Arsenal to buy players in this transfer window.

However, until then, the future looks extremely upsetting for the Arsenal faithful.
