USC Recruit Follows In The Foot Steps Of Sport's Greats. Don't You Do The Same.

Next Year Maurice Simmons was supposed to be wearing a uniform that was Cardinal and Gold, instead he will be a wearing a uniform of orange.

Maurice Simmons, younger brother of former USC player Melvin Simmons, was on his way to fame. The four-star prospect was offered a scholarship as a sophmore and committed to the Trojans right away.

Then in March of 2009 something went wrong. While hanging with his friend and former felon Lamont Hall Hall thought it would be a good idea to go out and rob someone, at gunpoint. A little bit later Simmons was pulled over and after searching the car the police found a gun under Hall's seat. Five months later he found himself sitting in court watching his dreams fly out he window.

Hall was sentenced to twelve years in prison because he was the one who had the gun at the time of the robbery while Simmons recieved four for assisting in the robbery and allowing someone to bring a gun in his car.

Those dreams of playing in pasedena are long gone as USC will no longer accept his admission.

Simmons is just following in the footsteps of some other great football prospects such as Ricky Williams, Michael Vick, and probably the most famous O.J. Simpson.

Does this kid realize what he just did to his life? Instead of spending 4 years of his life getting to play the game he loved and getting a college education paid for and then probably playing in the NFL, he will spend four years behind bars and then get out probably starting a job that pays minimum wage.

I know I'm being hard on a kid who is in a difficult situation already but for goodness sake this kid had it all. A spot on the best college football team in the nation, a future in the NFL, and a free college education at a fantastic university and he threw it out the window. As a college student having to pay his way through that really pisses me off.

This kid made a mistake that changed the course of his entire life for the worst. Don't you do the same.
