College Football 2011: 7 Best Offensive Players for the Miami Hurricanes
Every year the Miami Hurricanes showcase unbelievable talent, proven by the amount of players who get drafted by the NFL.
This year is no different.
The Hurricanes had many issues last year at quarterback, which caused Miami to go 7-6 for the season.
The offense has the ability to get a lot of points this year, not just because of the quarterbacks, but also because the rest of the offense.
Here are the Hurricanes' best seven offensive players.
Harland Gunn, OL
1 of 7Year: Senior
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 310 lbs.
Accolades: N/A
Gunn is the most experienced offensive lineman on the team having played in 27 games and starting 18 of them.
He will be playing beside Seantrel Henderson at left guard and has been listed on many preseason All-ACC teams this year.
Tyler Horn, OL
2 of 7Year: Senior
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 305 lbs.
Accolades: ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week (against UNC)
Horn didn't really get into a groove on the offensive line until last year when he started at center for the Hurricanes in all 13 games. He has amazing agility and is the leader of the offensive linemen.
Horn is on many 2011 preseason All-ACC First-Team lists.
LaRon Byrd, WR
3 of 7Year: Senior
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 220 lbs.
Accolades: N/A
Byrd didn't have the break-out season many people expected him to have last year, but he did end the year third on the team in receptions and receiving yards.
He has amazing athletic ability, and I believe Byrd will be Miami's primary possession receiver this year. He also changed his jersey number from No. 47 to No. 2.
Brandon Washington, OL
4 of 7Year: Junior
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 320 lbs.
Accolades: ACC Player of the Week (2), 2010 First-Team All-ACC
Washington originally came to Miami as a four-star recruit in 2009 and started two games for the Hurricanes.
Last year, Washington played so well he was named First-Team All-ACC, as he started all 13 games for Miami.
Seantrel Henderson, OL
5 of 7Year: Sophomore
Height: 6'8"
Weight: 345 lbs.
Accolades: College Football News and Scout.com First-Team Freshman All-American
After transferring from USC to Miami, Henderson immediately became an impact, starting nine of 12 games as a true freshman.
With the departure of Orlando Franklin, Henderson was moved to left tackle during the spring. He was one of 26 players to be named on the 2011 Playboy Preseason All-America Team.
Travis Benjamin, WR/KR/PR
6 of 7Year: Senior
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 175 lbs.
Accolades: N/A
Although he will most likely be the primary receiver, Benjamin's real potential will be at punt and kick returner. With his speed and quickness, he has the ability to take one back every time he touches the ball.
Benjamin was been listed on many preseason All-ACC teams going into the 2011 season.
Lamar Miller, RB
7 of 7Year: Sophomore
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 212 lbs.
Accolades: N/A
Although he is just a sophomore, Miller is Miami's main weapon on offense.
Miller came off the bench last year after his redshirt freshman season and amazed everyone in the country. He has a rare combination of speed, quickness and field vision many players do not have.
During this year's spring game, Miller ran for 166 yards and three touchdowns on just 10 carries. Barring injury to himself or the offensive linemen, I believe Miller has a great chance to be the ACC's MVP this year.
