2011 NBA Mock Draft: Consensus First Round, 5 Best Shooters

Ethan NorofJun 23, 2011

The 2011 NBA draft has some phenomenal shooters within the crop, and it's going to be interesting to see which clubs pursue perimeter help with their top pick on Thursday night.

Although Jimmer Fredette has received the majority of the hype from beyond the arc, he may not even be the best pure shooter in the draft.

With all of the different draft scenarios that could play out, it will be fun to watch what type of emphasis is put on shooting ability.

Jon Diebler, Ohio State

1 of 6

Jon Diebler might not get as much attention as some of the more notable names in the class, but it would be a mistake to leave him off of this list.

Diebler shot the lights out from beyond the arc last season, making better than half of his attempts, and considering that he averaged six three-point attempts per contest, that's a pretty solid indication of his skill from deep.

Jimmer Fredette, BYU

2 of 6

Jimmer Fredette's sweet stroke from beyond the arc is a major reason that he's going to be a first-round selection, but it doesn't indicate that he's the best shooter of the bunch.

He's definitely got the range to hit it from the NBA three-point line, but I'm not convinced that he'll be able to craft his own shot with any regularity playing against much tougher competition than he faced at BYU.

Klay Thompson, Washington State

3 of 6

Klay Thompson is looking like he'll be the first of the sharpshooters to be selected on draft day, and just one look at his stroke from deep is all the evidence that anyone needs to see.

Donnie Walsh recently compared his game to Reggie Miller's, and that's a pretty extraordinary compliment coming from one of the best basketball minds in the game.

Justin Harper, Richmond

4 of 6

It's not often that a power forward is labeled as one of the draft's best shooters, but it's pretty irregular for a big man to have the touch from deep that Harper possesses.

He's been working on his outside game since middle school, and there's no doubt that Harper is the definition of a stretch four. His game can really help to space the floor for any team that needs help on the wing.

Andrew Goudelock, College of Charleston

5 of 6

Despite coming out of a small school, Andrew Goudelock has the potential to have a big time impact from the perimeter.

Although he's not expected to be drafted until the second round, Goudelock registered better than 40 percent from beyond the arc this season and averaged almost nine three-pointers attempted per contest.

He's going to have to improve his shot selection in the NBA, but he can certainly put it through the net at the blink of an eye.
