Arsenal Transfer Rumours: Mahamadou Diarra, Christopher Samba and More

Yoosof FarahJun 23, 2011

Arsenal FC are reportedly set to offer former Real Madrid star Mahamadou Diarra a one-year contract worth £50,000 a week, as Arsene Wenger looks to add steel to his squad ahead of their Premier League title charge.

The Gunners, who have been linked with many players as the summer transfer window hots up, will be looking to add experienced professionals to their side ahead of the new season, along with a few talented youngsters who have the potential to make a big name for themselves in England's top flight.

Hot off the press, here are the players currently rumoured to be heading to the Emirates this summer.

Said to be a target for Stoke City and Fulham, Eye Football reports that AS Monaco midfielder Mahamadou Diarra could be set for a shock move to the Premier League, with Arsenal.

It's claimed that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger will offer the former Lyon legend £50,000 a week on a one-year deal, after his contract with Monaco, who were recently relegated from Ligue 1, expired at the end of last season.

The 30-year-old defensive midfielder only signed for Monaco in January 2011, after courting the interest of Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Fiorentina, Juventus, Aston Villa, Everton and Malaga following his departure from Real Madrid.

Christopher Samba, £12 Million

A long-term target for Arsenal, rumours of a potential switch to the Emirates for Blackburn Rovers star Christopher Samba have been hotting up, after the centre back revealed his desire to leave Ewood Park.

The powerful defender, who is under contract at Blackburn until 2015, said: "If a good opportunity presents itself, I want to take it. I hope the club will understand if I want to make the step up and not prevent a deal."

A fee of £12 million, due to a sell-on clause agreed with Hertha Berlin when the Rovers signed him for £450,000 four seasons ago, is reported to be enough to secure Samba's signature.

Kwadwo Asamoah, £25 Million

Said to be an Arsenal target according to his agent, Udinese and Ghana star Kwadwo Asamoah has talked up a potential move to the Gunners.

Speaking to FCInterNews.it, the 22-year-old said: "If I really must leave Udine, I would like Inter Milan or Juventus, or an experience abroad, in the Premiership with Arsenal, Manchester City or Chelsea."

Believed to be valued at £25 million, the dynamic yet skilful midfielder Asamoah could well be the missing piece in the jigsaw for Arsene Wenger.

Another former Real Madrid player said to be on Arsenal's radar is Schalke 04 star Jose Manuel Jurado.

The Sun reports that the 24-year-old midfielder, who impressed in the UEFA Champions League last season, is the subject of a £7.5 million bid from the Gunners, after Arsene Wenger had his scouts watch him in the Bundesliga throughout the 2010/11 campaign.

The Spaniard, who has played for both Real and Atletico Madrid, scored against Manchester United at Old Trafford last season, and was an integral part of the Schalke team in their run to the Champions League semifinal.

Arsenal are said to be leading the chase for highly rated defender Alexander Milosevic.

The 19-year-old left back, who has impressed for club AIK in the Allsvenskan this season, is said to be on the radar of Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland.

However, according to The Sun, it appears the Gunners will steal a march on their rivals for the £3.5 million Sweden U-21 star.
