NBA Trade Rumors: Top Teams Steve Nash Could Get Moved To
Before we get rolling on this, let me address the latest news regarding Steve Nash and any possible trade scenarios he has been a part of.
The Phoenix Suns’ president of basketball operations, Lon Babby, came out and firmly denied any trade allegations regarding Nash to Paul Coro and the Arizona Republic.
""We are not trading Marcin Gortat. Period. End of sentence," Babby said Wednesday morning. "We are not trading Steve Nash. Period. Exclamation point."
"
The trade winds have been circling around Nash, though, and even the most gullible of NBA fans knows not to fully believe what people tell you regarding trades.
If you believe the rumors, here are the top teams that have a chance to get Steve Nash.
4. Minnesota Timberwolves
1 of 4Marc Stein and Chad Ford of ESPN had reported that the Suns and T-Wolves had discussion about a trade that involved sending Steve Nash to Minnesota in return for the Suns receiving the No. 2 pick in the 2011 draft.
Word is that the talks didn’t go far because Nash wants to play for a contender, which the Wolves are not.
3. Toronto Raptors
2 of 4According to an article written by ESPN’s Marc Stein in February, the Toronto Raptors were “frequent callers” to the Suns, trying to figure out a deal to acquire the point guard.
Even though this was before the trade deadline, I have to believe that Toronto still has an interest in Nash and that Nash might be interested in the prospect of playing the end of his career in Canada.
2. Portland Trail Blazers
3 of 4One of the rumors that made sense was Steve Nash heading to the Trail Blazers in return for Andre Miller and another asset or two.
John Hollinger talked about the scenario in his SportsNation chat.
Nash added to that roster would presumably make the Trail Blazers a contending team in the Western Conference, and the Suns could receive some pieces to rebuild with.
1. New York Knicks
4 of 4Personally this trade makes the most sense to me as far as both parties are concerned.
Chris Sheridan of ESPN reports that the New York Knicks made an inquiry about Steve Nash.
This trade would see Steve Nash heading to New York to reunite with coach Mike D’Antoni and Amar’e Stoudemire.
The Suns could receive Chauncey Billups and $3 million in return to offset the salaries and then take back Josh Childress and his $25 million contract.
Even though this trade does make sense, keep in mind this is only speculation, and the Suns say they reportedly do not want to move Nash.
