2011 NBA Mock Draft: Projecting All 30 First-Round Draft Picks
The 2011 NBA draft is literally just a few days away, and before you know it, your team will be selecting its player of the future.
That means it’s time to start collecting all the information and the rumors, and start compiling final mock drafts.
We here at Bleacher Report have been working non-stop to bring you the latest news, rumors and information regarding the 2011 NBA draft. We are more than ready to cover you up and through the draft, and give you reactions afterward.
With that in mind I have constructed my latest 2011 NBA mock draft.
Where did your favorite player end up? Who does your favorite team take in the first round?
Here’s how I think the first round will play out:
1. Cleveland Cavaliers: Kyrie Irving
1 of 31Kyrie Irving: PG, Duke
No surprise here.
Even though Cleveland held the cards close to their proverbial vest in the final week before the draft, there is no doubt in my mind that they will draft the consensus No. 1.
Irving has the potential to be the point guard of the future, and he is everything that a team is looking for in a pure point guard.
Cleveland needs to start over and there is no better way to start than by finding the franchise a floor general.
2. Minnesota Timberwolves: Derrick Williams
2 of 31Derrick Williams: SF, Arizona
I think it’s going to be way too hard for the T-Wolves to pass up on the talent that Williams will bring to their franchise. They are going to move a few pieces around to clear up some room on the roster for Williams to grow, but in the end we are going to be looking at a very young and talented group of players.
The combination of Kevin Love and Derrick Williams will be interesting to watch, at the very least.
3. Utah Jazz: Brandon Knight
3 of 31Brandon Knight: PG, Kentucky
The Jazz may be the hardest team to predict right now due to all the workouts with different players they have done in the weeks leading up to the draft.
The buzz about this pick is that Brandon Knight has a slight edge over the rest of the prospects, and I think Utah will look to the future with this dynamic scorer.
4. Cleveland Cavaliers: Enes Kanter
4 of 31Enes Kanter: C, Turkey
Truth be told, if Jonas Valanciunas was able to get a buyout and be NBA-eligible next season, I could see the Cavs taking him here at four, and that seems to be the popular opinion. He is not able to do so though, so I think Cleveland will go with the sure thing in Enes Kanter.
You can’t knock Kanter's size, at 6'11" and 260 lbs. Further, he is only 19 years old.
5. Toronto Raptors: Kawhi Leonard
5 of 31Kawhi Leonard: SF, San Diego State
Leonard is the type of player that the Raptors will be looking for at No. 5.
He is a tough player that can rebound the ball and seems to be the safest pick right here.
He will need to develop a bit, but I think Toronto will be getting good value.
6. Washington Wizards: Jan Vesely
6 of 31Jan Vesely: PF, Czech Republic
Washington will be absolutely thrilled if Vesely falls to them at No. 6.
He can play both power forward and small forward in the NBA, so his versatility will be a huge addition to a Washington team looking to grow in athleticism.
7. Sacramento Kings: Jimmer Fredette
7 of 31Jimmer Fredette: PG, BYU
The word out of Sacramento is that the Kings owners, the Maloof brothers, are head-over-heels for Fredette. I think this is going to be the first big shocker of the draft, and it’s definitely going to alter the way teams behind the Kings look at their boards.
Fredette would sell lots of tickets for this hurting organization.
8. Detroit Pistons: Kemba Walker
8 of 31Kemba Walker: PG, UConn
The Pistons have been very high on Bismack Biyombo in the past month or so, but I don’t think Joe Dumars can pass up on making a splash with his fan base and drafting a new point guard for the future in Walker.
This would mean that Rodney Stuckey would most likely have to be moved, but I don’t know many people in Detroit who would be opposed to that.
9. New York Knicks: Bismack Biyombo (Trade)
9 of 31Bismack Biyombo: PF, Congo
The New York Knicks are reportedly very interested in moving up to get Biyombo, and the way this draft scenario plays out, it would be the perfect time to grab him.
I have the Knicks proposing a trade to the Bobcats to secure the No. 9 pick and Biyombo.
10. Milwaukee Bucks: Jonas Valanciunas
10 of 31Jonas Valanciunas: C, Lithuania
The Bucks need some help down low and I don’t think they will be able to pass up the value they would be getting for Valanciunas at No. 10.
I also think they will be okay with his playing situation for now. He is a great long-term solution at center for the Bucks.
11. Golden State Warriors: Klay Thompson
11 of 31Klay Thompson: SG, Washington State
Thompson fits the bill of Golden State’s backcourt and I think the shooting touch will go well with Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry in front of him.
12. Utah Jazz: Chris Singleton
12 of 31Chris Singleton: SF, Florida State
With Andrei Kirilenko looking at free agency soon, the Jazz are going to want to sure up the small forward position.
13. Phoenix Suns: Marcus Morris
13 of 31Marcus Morris: PF, Kansas
In drafting Morris, the Suns will get an NBA-ready big man that can contribute for them right away. They also desperately need some help down low, so Morris will be a huge pick here.
14. Houston Rockets: Nikola Vucevic
14 of 31Nikola Vucevic: C, USC
Vucevic is the biggest player in the draft, and the Rockets are definitely going to want to go with size. He could be the eventual replacement for Yao Ming.
15. Indiana Pacers: Tristan Thompson
15 of 31Tristan Thompson: PF, Texas
Thompson is a great rebounder and will eventually be a solid presence down low for the Pacers.
He really fits the bill of what they are looking for in Indiana big men.
16. Philadelphia 76ers: Alec Burks
16 of 31Alec Burks: SG, Colorado
Burks essentially slipped in this mock draft due to teams' necessities, and the Kings' pick of Fredette really threw everything off.
The 76ers will love taking Burks at No. 16, though. Andre Iguodala is on the trading block, and they just might find his production replacement in Burks.
17. Charlotte Bobcats: Jordan Hamilton (From Knicks)
17 of 31Jordan Hamilton: SF, Texas
The Bobcats will be sitting pretty here after trading back with the Knicks. They will be getting Hamilton, plus a player or two in the trade from the Knicks.
Personally, I think Hamilton might be a steal in this draft.
18. Washington Wizards: Marshon Brooks
18 of 31Marshon Brooks: SG, Providence
Brooks is one of the better scorers in the draft, so adding him to a roster with John Wall is going to give the Wizards a very explosive and young potential backcourt combination.
19. Charlotte Bobcats: Markieff Morris
19 of 31Markieff Morris: PF, Kansas
The Bobcats will potentially get another first-round steal with Morris falling to them at No. 19.
He’s a big body and is a skilled and mature basketball player.
20. Minnesota Timberwolves: Iman Shumpert
20 of 31Iman Shumpert: PG, Georgia Tech
Shumpert will bring another blast of youth to a lineup that is starting to grow in athleticism and explosiveness.
He is a great defender and is very athletic. He could be a great backup point guard in the NBA.
21. Portland Trail Blazers: Kenneth Faried
21 of 31Kenneth Faried: PF, Moorehead State
Apparently Portland was very high on Faried in the 2010 draft before he withdrew. I don’t see them passing up on him in 2011.
22. Denver Nuggets: Donatas Motiejunas
22 of 31Donatas Motiejunas: PF, Lithuania
The Nuggets really need to get a solid post presence lined up for their future, and Motiejunas is good enough to contribute to the presence.
Some consider him a lottery pick, so the Nuggets would get a steal in Motiejunas at No. 22.
23. Houston Rockets: Tobias Harris
23 of 31Tobias Harris: PF, Tennessee
Harris is another big guy the Rockets could add to their frontcourt, but he is much more than that.
He is incredibly versatile and can also play small forward if need be.
Reports indicate that Harris is well-rounded and a smart basketball player.
24. Oklahoma City Thunder: Kyle Singler
24 of 31Kyle Singler: SF, Duke
Even though Singler may not be first-round talent, almost everybody is saying that the Thunder really like the guy and wouldn’t hesitate to draft him.
I don’t agree with the pick, but I believe it will happen.
25. Boston Celtics: Jeremy Tyler
25 of 31Jeremy Tyler: C, Tokyo Apache
The experts are calling Tyler a potential steal and indicate that he would be a top 10 pick if he played in college.
Boston has the ability to take a chance here, and if it works out, they will be looking very good as they begin rebuilding.
26. Dallas Mavericks: JaJuan Johnson
26 of 31JaJuan Johnson: PF, Purdue
The world champions have the ability to draft for depth and build for the future in the first round.
Johnson can shoot the ball and he is a good defender. In time, he could be a project worth taking.
27. New Jersey Nets: Reggie Jackson
27 of 31Reggie Jackson: PG, Boston College
The Nets need to consider that Deron Williams might not stay with them after next season. Even if he does, Jackson would be a great backup.
28. Chicago Bulls: Tyler Honeycutt
28 of 31Tyler Honeycutt: SF, UCLA
Honeycutt is a very versatile player that could add a lot to the Bulls' depth in the backcourt. He can play guard or go down low and bang around with the big guys.
29. San Antonio Spurs: Davis Bertans
29 of 31Davis Bertans: SF, Latvia
Here go the Spurs again with an international pick that they won’t see for a couple of years!
The kicker is that when they do come to the NBA, the Spurs usually end up with a big contributor. Bertans will be no different; he is heralded as a great shooter.
30. Chicago Bulls: Shelvin Mack
30 of 31Shelvin Mack: PG, Butler
The Bulls need to find a legitimate backup for Derrick Rose and I think that they have the luxury of taking a chance on Mack here at the end of the first round.
He has the ability to be extremely explosive, so if anything, he would be a big energy boost off the bench.
