Dwight Howard Trade Rumors: Superman's Top 3 Metropolis's
Howard flip-flops more than most politicians. A couple of weeks ago he said he was going to stay in Orlando, then a few days later reported he was going to try free agency and would not sign an extension.
The Magic cannot rely on Howard coming back. They can't afford to lose him either. If things look grim, they need to trade him so they can avoid what happened in Cleveland.
There is no way to get equal value for Howard. No one in the NBA possess his skill set, and he is far and above the best center in the league.
What the Magic need to do is clear bad contracts, get draft picks, and acquire young talent. With this being said, most teams who could do this, Howard won't play for.
Most likely one of these three teams will most likely land the new superman, and solidify their franchise.
LA Lakers
1 of 3This is the trade most people expect to happen. Superman 2 following in the shadows of Superman 1 to Hollywood. Howard and Bryant would be a fierce tandem, and they could easily win a championship in the three good years Kobe has left.
Possible trades
Odom/Bynum for Howard/Redick
Odom/Artest/Bynum for Howard/Duhon/Turkoglu
...or my favorite
Gasol/Bynum for Howard/Arenas
All three of these deals will keep the Magic in the playoff hunt. They will be no where as good though. The Magic will eventually either have to build with Bynum being a huge expensive piece, or sever ties and totally rebuild.
New York
2 of 3People have been hearing rumors of this for a while now. New York could only land Howard by giving up Stoudemire. New York just does not have enough young assets left.
Obtaining Howard would instantly make New York better. New York would also have enough cap room in 2012 to sign Deron WIlliams or Chris Paul. Making a Big Three to rival Miami
A Stoudemire for Howard trade could work salary cap wise. It would probably be an option.
Stoudemire/Landry Fields for Howard/Ryan Anderson
This trade wouldn't surprise me either.
This trade would hurt the Magic, but they would still be a playoff team. They will eventually need to rebuild, but you can rebuild around worse than Amare Stoudemire.
Orlando
3 of 3Not a new place for Howard, but the place he needs to be. He says he loves Orlando, loves his fans, doesn't want to be like O'Neal, and wants to stay with the Magic. This is true or he wouldn't have said it.
The problem is the brass isn't surrounding him with the players needed to win a championship. It seems now they are trying. Orlando has already been linked to deals that include Andre Igoudala and Monta Ellis. I doubt this is all Orlando has done to try to make Howard happy.
If the Magic can prove to Howard they will build a good team around him, he might stay.
