Barcelona president Sandro Rosell and David Luiz's agent Giuliano Bertolucci have had a quiet word about the player, and the Barcelona supremo expressed his desire to have the former Benfica center-back at the club.

According to this report, Spanish newspaper Sport says that Bertolucci was keen on hearing what Barcelona had to offer for the Brazilian.

FC Barcelona do not have a very heavy budget this season and are already linked to Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas this summer. Provided that both players sign for the Catalans, that amount is expected to exceed £60million.

The same report also claims that Barcelona are in the lookout for a central defender, and with captain Carles Puyol aging, it's hardly surprising. Barcelona did struggle to keep their defense in shape last season with a number of options tried at the back, including both Mascherano and Busquets being deployed at the position.

David Luiz is quite similar to Carles Puyol; both are strong in the air and solid defenders who never shy away from making a tackle. David Luiz also has a knack of going forward now and again, and a thunderous bolt for Chelsea last season shows his ability to score. Remarkably, they have quite similar hairstyles too!

It is very hard to see Chelsea parting with the player they brought in January this year, and even if they do plan to sell the £22million acquisition from Benfica, they'd probably demand a figure in the region of £30 million, which I doubt Barcelona would be able to cough up—this season, at least.

With Barcelona, however, you never know.
