NBA Draft 2011:Chris Singleton and the Top 5 Prospects for Golden State Warriors
The 11th overall pick in the 2011 draft is the Golden State Warriors'. They have a couple of options with this pick. Hopefully they'll fill one of their two needs in the starting lineup—small forward and center.
Enes Kanter is one of the only centers worthy of a first-round choice making the Warriors' options very limited.
Many of the mock drafts predict Bismack Biyombo, but I think the Warriors wouldn't make such a stupid choice. I think there are many players that are more worthy of the 11th overall pick, especially at the small forward position.
6. Nikola Mirotic (Small Forward)
1 of 6
The biggest needs for the Warriors are at small forward and center. Nikola Mirotic is a stretch for the Warriors at the 11th overall pick, but if there isn’t a good option at small forward, expect the Warriors to trade down to pick Nikola Mirotic.
He is a unique player because he is 6'10" tall, yet he has very good range on his jumper and is an extremely good passer.
Even though he plays the small forward position, he can rebound very well and can run the floor too.
5. Jan Vesely (Power Forward)
2 of 6
I don’t think that Jan Vesely will still be on the board for the Warriors' 11th pick, but if he is, expect the Warriors to pick Vesely.
He is a very raw talent from the Czech Republic, but he will be able to make an immediate impact. He has a very good outside game and can drive to the rim very well.
The Warriors have David Lee at the power forward but with the addition of Vesely; the Warriors can put Lee at the 3, Andris Biedrins at center, and Vesely at the 4.
He still needs to gain strength in his upper body, but with the 11th pick in the draft, the Warriors would be very happy with Jan Vesely.
4. Marcus Morris (Small/Power Forward)
3 of 6
This would be a jump for the Warriors considering he is not one of the top 15 players in the draft, but this might be the player the Warriors pick.
He is a bit of a tweener between the small and power forward. He needs to develop an outside shot if he doesn't want to be confined to the post.
He is a very good rebounder, one of the weaknesses of the Warriors in 2010-2011. He is very inspiring to other teammates because he works so hard out on the floor.
He could be a good choice for the Warriors if they are looking for another power forward.
3. Jordan Hamilton (Small Forward)
4 of 6
The Warriors could use a player with the talent of Jordan Hamilton. Golden State already has Stephen Curry and Monte Ellis, and adding another player that can put up 20 plus points a game would make them an unstoppable force.
He is a very polished scorer, has very good range on his jumper and can rebound extremely well for a small forward.
He needs to work on his defense, but with the new head coach Mark Jackson promising improvements to the Warriors' defense, this would be a perfect fit for Jordan Hamilton.
He is not afraid to do the dirty work in the post and would compliment David Lee very well.
2. Klay Thompson (Shooting Guard)
5 of 6
In my opinion, Klay Thompson is the most realistic choice for the Warriors with the 11th pick in the draft. He is an amazing shooter with unlimited range and a very good handle on the ball.
He is a very smart basketball player as well. At 6'7'' tall, he should be able to play the small forward position in the NBA.
He is known to make talented passes which would work extremely well in the Warriors' offense. If Klay Thompson gets drafted by the Warriors and the three guards figure out how to play together, watch out for the Warriors in the 2011-2012 season.
1. Chris Singleton (Small Forward)
6 of 6
This is the best option for the Golden State Warriors. Chris Singleton is a lock-down defender and would be perfect for the Warriors.
The Warriors need a defender to guard the opposing team’s best player and if Chris Singleton is drafted, he would be an immediate starter. He is very long and athletic and has the potential to contribute on the offensive end as well.
He can finish at the rim and runs the floor too. If the Warriors draft Chris Singleton, expect a much needed improvement of their defense and an overall improvement in their 2011-2012 record.
