Arkansas Football: 8 Opponents We'd Love to See on Future Schedules
The Arkansas Razorbacks are a part of one of college football’s most competitive conferences. Each and every season the Razorbacks draw a very tough schedule to include powerhouse teams like Alabama, LSU, and Auburn.
This year the schedule is as tough as ever and features excellent games that will be very entertaining to watch, but there are still some opponents that should be featured on the Razorbacks schedule.
Ohio State Buckeyes
1 of 8
The Razorbacks fans should be chomping at the bit to see this rematch and the sooner the better.
Ohio State beat the Razorbacks in the Sugar Bowl last year but it wasn’t without controversy. The Buckeyes were allowed to suit up several players who were surrounded by controversy. The Buckeyes won, but they did it with players that should have been ruled ineligible.
Arkansas will not want to have a vacated Sugar Bowl title but would gladly take it to the Buckeyes on the field.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
2 of 8
Notre Dame is on the verge of becoming a powerhouse in college football after many years of sitting on the sideline.
Arkansas would be a great opponent for the Fighting Irish and the Lou Holtz connection would provide for a great storyline. The Irish are always on national television and this game would warrant prime time coverage.
Texas Longhorns
3 of 8
The Razorbacks and the Texas Longhorns have history. They are both two great football schools and located very close to one another so this would automatically be called a “game of the week”.
This game would be well received in the local area as well as the national stage. In a perfect world, Texas and Arkansas would play on a regular basis.
Louisville Cardinals
4 of 8
A game against the Big East would normally be a step down for Arkansas, but if they played the Louisville Cardinals there would be more meaning.
Current Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino spent for years as the head man at Louisville compiling a 41-9 record. This game could also provide offensive fireworks as both teams boast talented offense.
However if the Hogs are looking for an offensive shootout there are a few other teams that should be on their schedule.
Boise State Broncos
5 of 8
The Boise State Broncos have become a mainstay in the college football top 25 polls.
They have tried to arrange big games and have only managed to get a few marquee names. The hogs should go to Boise State. The Broncos have a great reputation at home and winning a game of that magnitude could only help the Razorbacks.
The fans would enjoy an offensive shootout and the Razorbacks could be one of the few teams that beat Boise on their own turf.
Oregon Ducks
6 of 8
The Oregon Ducks are one of the most explosive offense teams in the country and they have made a habit of playing tough out of conference games.
A game against the Razorbacks would surely satisfy the appetite of fans that enjoy offensive football. The success of this game could also influence a rivalry between the Pac-10 and the SEC and allow for more coverage for the Razorbacks on the west coast.
Oklahoma State
7 of 8
The Oklahoma State Cowboys would be another worthy opponent for the Razorbacks.
They reside in the Big 12 and that makes them a worthy opponent outside of the normal schedule. The Cowboys also have a high-octane offense that is capable of putting up big points.
This game would have plenty of points and be worth the watch, but for those that are fans of defense there is another team the Hogs could face on the schedule.
TCU Horned Frogs
8 of 8
The TCU Horned Frogs are identical to Boise State. They are a very well coached team, bet get little credit.
The Frogs need to play a top caliber opponent and the Razorbacks could be that team. In a classic offense vs. defense battle this game would be worth the watch.
The teams would love to be able to use the Frogs vs. Hogs angle to market the game.
Arkansas is one of the best teams in the country and adding these teams to a future schedule would only cement that fact.
