ACC Power Rankings After Week Nine

The ACC and SEC BlogOct 27, 2008

1. Florida State

The Seminoles appear to have discovered their offense after some early season woes. FSU has an ACCCG in its sights, but big showdowns with Georgia Tech and Maryland loom.

2. Virginia

What a climb from the depths of the ACC standings for Virginia! Ever since getting Cedric Peerman back, UVA has been a force in the ACC. Al Groh is in the running for a second straight coach of the year award after being left for dead in September.

3. Maryland

So maybe the Terps have achieved a small level of consistency by beating a team they were supposed to. Maryland is another mid-year reclamation project who earlier this year lost to Middle Tenn State.

4. North Carolina

I thought after Brandon Tate went down, UNC would have real trouble on offense. Shows how much I know as they exploded for 45 against BC.

5. Virginia Tech

The Hokies are reeling on offense even more so than before with both Tyrod Taylor and Sean Glennon going down in the loss to FSU. However, VT still controls their destiny in the Coastal Division.

6. Georgia Tech

The loud pop you heard may have been Georgia Tech’s ACCCG hopes popping along with the rest of the homecoming balloons in Saturday’s loss to red-hot Virginia. The Yellow Jackets have to find a way to hold on to the ball Saturday vs. FSU.

7. Boston College

8. Miami

9. Wake Forest

10. Clemson

11. Duke

12. NC State
