Arsenal Transfer Rumors: Karim Benzema & 5 Players the Gunners Are Targeting
After a disappointing finish, Arsenal are looking to add some new players to the mix.
Arsene Wenger has a unique transfer style, but it appears that he might be more aggressive this summer. He was visibly upset multiple times last season, which is uncharacteristic of the French mastermind.
He realizes that Arsenal haven't raised silverware in awhile (2005), and frustration is settling in amongst the club, the players and the fans. Consequently, Wenger will bring in a variety of players this summer, and I have compiled a list of five that have been linked to club and could make an instant impact.
Karim Benzema
1 of 5
The French international seems to have lost his place at Real Madrid. Jose Mourinho has his ideas, and I don't think Karim Benzema fits into them for next season.
As a result, Benzema will probably leave Madrid, making him an incredibly sought-after striker. Arsene Wenger has always like Benzema, and he could break tradition to bring in the 23-year-old.
Benzema is a world-class striker, and any team would love to add him. Although it seems unlikely, this move is more plausible than you might think. Wenger has his sights set on him, which could mean Benzema will be wearing a Gunners jersey next season.
Gary Cahill

Arsenal are in a race to sign Gary Cahill. Other major clubs (Machester City, Liverpool) have been linked to Bolton's center back, but Arsenal need him the most.
Although he seems a little expensive, Arsenal desperately need a strong central defense. They were embarrassing at times last year, and if they want to win any trophy, the Gunners need to strengthen the middle.
By signing Cahill, Arsenal would be fixing their biggest problem. As a result, Arsene Wenger can't overlook the Wanderers star.
Gervinho
3 of 5
Gervinho is a beast. He is quick, strong and athletic. All of these are assets that would make him a success at Emirates.
He was quoted in saying that he would "do anything to play for Arsenal." That's a good sign of loyalty to the club. He can play a variety of positions, which will make his adjustment to England smoother. Arsene Wenger can employ him at a variety of positions, which will make the Gunners even more dangerous.
As the transfer window heats up, I think Arsenal will make their move. Wenger was going to make a £12 million offer this week, which should result in Gervinho landing at Arsenal.
Jeremy Menez
4 of 5
Gael Clichy is nearly gone from Arsenal, and he has been linked to Roma. A rumor has surfaced that Roma would offer Jeremy Menez as a swap deal for Clichy.
Menez would bring a lot of excitement to the Gunners' wing, and he would provide a dangerous attack from the wide position. He is a creative player that plays at an unbelievable pace, which is exactly what Arsene Wenger is looking for.
While this isn't a guaranteed deal, I wouldn't be surprised if Clichy and Menez are swapped this summer.
Chris Samba
5 of 5
Like I said earlier, Arsenal are looking for help in the center of defense. Chris Samba would provide that strong defense for the Gunners.
He played relatively well for Blackburn last season, and a jump to Arsenal would force him to play even better this season. Samba's Premier League experience will be invaluable to his transition. He is accustomed to the English game, which will allow him to play right away for Arsene Wenger's side.
Samba has also been linked to Tottenham Hotspur, which could result in a heated contest for the Congolese defender. If he ends up at Arsenal, Samba will provide an instant impact in the center of their defense.
