2011 NBA Mock Draft: Which Team Will Take Jimmer Fredette?
Jimmer Fredette may be the most intriguing player in this year's NBA Draft. There are a number of potential destinations for him, but it's still a mystery as to which team will ultimately choose him.
Fredette has a unique skill set, which makes him an attractive option in the draft. However, it is unknown how he will fare in the NBA after playing against weak competition during his time at Brigham Young University.
What teams will he and his fellow rookies be going to?
Follow along as we predict the entire first round of this year's NBA Draft.
30. Chicago Bulls: Chandler Parsons
1 of 30
Chandler Parsons has ideal size (6'10") for a small forward at the next level.
He is an excellent ball handler for a player of his size and has the ability to play the point-forward position.
He is a terrific shooter with three-point range.
Chandler Parsons also is a great passer who always seems to know where the open man is.
He isn't an aggressive scorer, which makes him more of a role player at the next level.
29. San Antonio Spurs: Kyle Singler
2 of 30
Kyle Singler may be the hardest working player in this draft, having played for Mike Krzyzewski the last four years.
At 6'9", 228 pounds, Kyle Singler has the ideal size to be an effective small forward in the NBA.
He has a very fluid jump shot which is tough to defend because of the high release point.
Kyle Singler has a very high basketball IQ and rarely makes mistakes.
His lack of athleticism will hurt him on the defensive end, but can make up for it by being a hustler.
28. Chicago Bulls: Shelvin Mack
3 of 30
Shelvin Mack is a great offensive player who went to two straight national title games with his Butler Bulldogs.
He is a great one on one player who has the ability to create shots for himself. He has a very effective jump shot with three-point range.
Mack is also a solid defensive player who can match up with most NBA two guards.
27. New Jersey Nets: Nikola Vucevic
4 of 30
Nikola Vucevic has the ideal size (6'11") to play power forward or center at the next level.
He has great footwork for a player of his size and shows great control around the rim. He possesses the ability to knock down the mid-range jump shot and has shown that he can turn and face the basket.
Vucevic may be labeled as "soft" at the next level because he is a European.
However, Dirk Nowitzki was able to help kick that stereotype by winning this year's NBA title.
26. Dallas Mavericks: Justin Harper
5 of 30
Justin Harper is an extremely gifted offensive player who has ideal size (6'9") to play the small forward position in the NBA.
He has the foot speed to blow by defenders and get to the rim. He'll be benefited by a consistent jump shot that extends to the three-point line.
The only question surrounding Justin Harper is how effective he will be as a small forward, because he's not big enough to match up to other players of his size.
25. Boston Celtics: Trey Thompkins
6 of 30
The Boston Celtics are looking to add a post player with the retirement of Shaquille O'Neal and the imminent departure of Glen Davis via free agency.
Trey Thompkins is the perfect player to fill that role. He is a great athlete who possesses great awareness around the rim. He is also a solid finisher around the basket and rebounds the ball with tenacity.
Thompkins isn't a great athlete, which will hurt him against more gifted players, but can make up for that with hustle and his high basketball IQ.
24. Oklahoma City Thunder: Nolan Smith
7 of 30
Nolan Smith will be an outstanding two guard for the Hornets as well as a great complement to Russell Westbrook.
Smith has great ball handling skills and is a very proficient passer. He always knows where the open man is and gets the ball to him. He struggles going one on one, so he'll very much be a role player at the next level.
Smith lacks ideal athleticism, so he will struggle on the defensive end.
23. Houston Rockets: Tyler Honeycutt
8 of 30
Maybe the most athletic player in the draft, Tyler Honeycutt will be a great fit at the small forward position for any team that selects him.
His greatest strength is ability to create off the dribble and get to the rim. He has a consistent jump shot from anywhere on the floor that extends to the three-point line.
Honeycutt is very small (187 pounds) for a player of his size, which will be his biggest weakness at the next level.
22. Denver Nuggets: Marshon Brooks
9 of 30
Marshon Brooks is arguably one of the best pure scorers in this draft, as he ranked second in the country to Jimmer Fredette at 24.6 points per game in his senior season at Providence.
His quick first step allows him to penetrate the lane and get a shot off. He is a great shooter off the dribble, as well as in catch and release situations.
Brooks has shown inconsistency at times, and the ball sometimes becomes glued to his hands.
21. Portland Trailblazers: Kenneth Faried
10 of 30
Kenneth Faried is the most explosive big man in the draft. He is undersized at 6'7", but his hustle and determination are second to none. He is always around the rim, and his hands are seemingly on every rebound.
Faried will have to develop his offensive game if he wants to be an effective player on the other end of the floor.
20. Minnesota Timberwolves: Bismack Biyombo
11 of 30
Bismack Biyombo, a native of Congo, is a terrific defensive player who has played professionally in Europe.
He possesses great footwork around the rim and a great awareness of his location relative to the basket. Biyombo's greatest strength is his rebounding ability, and he is adept at boxing out his defender and utilizing his wingspan to snatch rebounds.
He has a limited offensive game, but is sure to develop it with more NBA experience.
19. Charlotte Bobcats: Klay Thompson
12 of 30
Klay Thompson is a great shooter who, at 6'7", will play shooting guard in the NBA.
He understood his role at Washington State and flourished in the system. He plays within himself and will take what the defense gives him.
While he's not a great athlete, he'll be able to create shots for himself coming off screens and away from the ball.
18. Washington Wizards: Tobias Harris
13 of 30
Tobias Harris is one of the most skilled big men in this draft.
His ability to handle the ball makes him a tough match-up for any defender. He has a great feel for the game and has an NBA-ready skill set.
Harris doesn't have ideal foot speed, so it will be tough for him to guard a lot of other power forwards at the next level.
17. New York Knicks: Chris Singleton
14 of 30
Chris Singleton is a lock-down defensive player who has the ability to deny most scoring opportunities.
He has long arms, which help him to take away the passing lanes and grab errant passes. That wingspan also allows him to corral rebounds around the rim.
Singleton has a limited skill set at the offensive end, which will make him a true role player in the NBA.
16. Philadelphia 76ers: Markieff Morris
15 of 30
Markieff Morris is arguably one of the best all around players in this draft. He has great footwork in the post and has an effective drop step that allows him to get the ball to the rim.
At 6'9", 241 pounds, he has an NBA-ready body.
Markieff Morris also has a great jump shot from three-point land, as he shot 42 percent from the arc. He's a very effective rebounder who is always active around the rim.
15. Indiana Pacers: Alec Burks
16 of 30
Alec Burks will be a great shooting guard at the next level at 6'6". He knows how to create his own shot, whether it be a pull up jumper or a catch and release shot.
He also shows a quick first step and the ability to blow by defenders and get to the rim.
Burks relied on his athleticism to finish around the rim in college, but will need to add bulk to his 192-pound frame to do that in the NBA.
14. Houston Rockets: Darius Morris
17 of 30
Darius Morris has great size (6'5") for a point guard at the next level.
He has the ability to drive the lane with either hand and has a effective tear drop shot around the rim. He has great vision when leading the offense in the half-court, as he led the Big Ten in assists per game last season at Michigan.
Morris is not a great shooter and has a tough time creating shots for himself away from the ball.
13. Phoenix Suns: Kemba Walker
18 of 30
Perhaps the most explosive player in this draft, Kemba Walker is a tremendous talent. His game is marked by unbelievable explosiveness and raw speed. He simply can't be guarded by just one player, which makes him such a tough match-up.
The one knock against him is his size (6'1" in shoes).
Walker isn't a true point guard either, which will make for a tough transition into the NBA.
12. Utah Jazz: Kawhi Leonard
19 of 30
Kawhi Leonard is a versatile small forward at 6'7".
He roams around the perimeter most of the time and waits for the ball to come to him. When he does go to the post, he has an effective turn around jumper.
Leonard's improved offensive game features a reliable jump shot as well as the ability to handle the ball in the open floor.
His biggest weakness in the NBA will be his unrefined ball skills to operate as a player on the wing.
11. Golden State Warriors: Jordan Hamilton
20 of 30
Jordan Hamilton possesses a scary offensive arsenal at 6'8", 228 pounds.
He is able to score in a variety of ways, most notably a killer jump shot that extends to the three-point line. He can create shots for himself with or without the ball, which makes him a tough match-up.
Hamilton played very well in Rick Barnes' offense at Texas, which is the same system Jerry Sloan ran during his years as head coach of the Utah Jazz.
10. Milwaukee Bucks: Donatas Motiejunas
21 of 30
Perhaps one of the most skilled big men to ever come out of Europe, Donatas Motiejunas shows a very high level of potential as an NBA player. He is able to play both inside and out, making him a very difficult match-up at seven feet tall. He can play with his back to the basket or on the perimeter.
Motiejunas has shown laziness in practice and games because of how talented he knows he is.
He'll need to add beef to his 224-pound frame to be able to compete with other NBA bigs.
9. Charlotte Bobcats: Marcus Morris
22 of 30
Marcus Morris, twin brother of Markieff, was one of the best forwards in college basketball last season at Kansas. He may not be as versatile a player as his brother, but is a better player around the rim at both ends of the floor. He is able to turn over either shoulder and knock down turn around jumpers consistently.
Morris also has jump shot with range out to the three-point line, though his consistency has been criticized.
8. Detroit Pistons: Jonas Valanciunas
23 of 30
Jonas Valanciunas, another Lithuanian big man, is a terrific post player at 6'11". He is a very effective player around the rim and gets a lot of put-backs and tip-ins. He has a great rebounding ability because of his size and tremendous wing span. Valanciunas also has a consistent mid-range jumper.
His biggest weakness is creating his own offense, as he is only effective at operating out of the post.
7. Sacramento Kings: Jimmer Fredette
24 of 30
Jimmer Fredette's most likely destination is Sacramento, where the team may be in its last season in that city.
He is the most gifted offensive player in this draft as he can score the basketball in many ways. He dazzled fans with his three-point range, which seemingly begins after he crosses the half-court stripe. He has a great handle which allows him to drive the lane and finish at the rim.
Jimmer Fredette's biggest weakness is his defense, which he rarely played at BYU to stay out of foul trouble.
6. Washington Wizards: Tristan Thompson
25 of 30
Tristan Thompson is a great athlete who played on the blocks during his time at Texas. He runs the floor well for a player of his size (6'9") and is an excellent finisher in transition. He establishes position in the post very well and has the ability to consistently make baby hook shots
Thompson will need to put in a lot of work because his skills are limited to the low blocks and he is undersized as a post player.
5. Toronto Raptors: Jan Vesley
26 of 30
The third European player expected to be drafted in the first round, Jan Vesely is a gifted player from the Czech Republic.
He has improved his low-post game and is more confident attacking the rim and finishing strong. He has also improved his jump shot and is now confident launching shots from beyond the three-point line.
Vesely is a high energy guy whose work ethic and hustle will never be questioned.
4. Cleveland Cavaliers: Enes Kanter
27 of 30
Enes Kanter is a tremendous big man with a variety of moves around the basket. His athleticism and wingspan allow him to be a force down low. He also has a consistent mid-range jump shot when he turns and faces the basket.
Kanter also has a high basketball IQ with the willingness to be coached.
3. Utah Jazz: Brandon Knight
28 of 30
Brandon Knight is a very skilled point guard who has shown that he is ready to play right away in the NBA. He is a natural scorer who can get the ball into the hoop any way he wants to. He has a very consistent jump shot from anywhere on the floor as well as the ability to get in the paint and finish at the rim.
His biggest weakness is his passing, which is very suspect at times.
2. Minnesota Timberwolves: Derrick Williams
29 of 30
Derrick Williams is arguably the best player in the draft. At 6'9", he is a great slashing player who has a lethal jump shot from three. He's also a terrific finisher around the basket. His length allows him to use the drop step to create separation and knock down turn around jumpers.
Derrick Williams' biggest weakness is the amount of time it takes for him to get his shot off when he goes into isolation.
1. Cleveland Cavaliers: Kyrie Irving
30 of 30
Kyrie Irving is a great point guard who the Cavs should build around. He's a pure point guard who has terrific vision and passing ability. He also has the ability to create his own offense off the dribble. His jump shot is consistent and extends to the three-point line.
The biggest question mark surrounding Irving is his long-term durability after playing in only eight games in his one year at Duke due to a turf toe injury.
