2011 NBA Finals Will Be Entrenched in Our Minds for Longer Than You Think

Rachel MarcusJun 13, 2011

If yesterday’s game was the last one until who knows when, then what a way to go out. I don’t think I’m alone when I say that this series was one of the best in a while.

We knew the story-lines going in. The all-mighty Big Three of the Heat. Dallas and Dirk, a renewed Jason Kidd.

Every person in the country except for Heat fans were rooting for the Mavericks in this captivating Game 6 of the Finals that capped a thrilling series. Most people probably didn’t expect to get a series where practically every game was a dogfight and the winner wasn’t the boys from South Beach.

What a series.

But now what? With the high possibility of a lockout, the NBA might not return until January or who knows when. But there’s still plenty more basketball this summer.

So once you’re over this epic series, don’t worry. The NBA Draft is 10 days away. Summer leagues across the country are abound. And of course, there will be plenty of news about the lockout.

With that being said, though, there’s still time to bask in the glory of a team not named the Heat winning the championship. The ultimate veterans won. Nowitzki, Kidd, Terry, Marion. They’ve all been in the league for ages. Now they each have a ring. Quite the fitting ending.

Just hopefully not an ending that will stretch until January.
