Manchester United: Phil Jones and 5 Players Who Could Change 2011-12 Season

Aidan FlintJun 13, 2011

Last season's Premier League was a strange one.

Not one team really dominated the league from start to finish, as each team had hiccups along the way.

Chelsea lost form, Manchester United's draws away from home were a nagging issue, Manchester City had a habit of dropping silly points and Arsenal bottled it in the big games, which all made for a strange season.

However, for Manchester United to run away with the title next year, here are five players who would truly complete their squad.

5. David De Gea

Supposedly already a done deal, but De Gea is a guy who sweats talent.

United learnt from their mistakes from not replacing The Great Dane in 1999, and they paid for that because they had silly goalkeepers in between.

Signing De Gea now whilst hes young and got years left at the top could prove to be the correct move for Sir Alex in time to come.

4. Ashley Young

Again, already a done deal but he will add a lot to the team: Pace, experience and he will challenge Nani and Valencia for the spot on the flanks.

He would be a great addition to the squad. Plus, he's an England international to boot and in a good time in his career.

3. Phil Jones

The deal for the England Under-21 was apprently complete, but a twist in the works had made us think twice. United need a young defender to replace Ferdinand, as his glass back won't last much longer.

I can see Smalling and Jones forming a great partnership at the heart of United's defense in years to come, as I dont see Vidic sticking around much longer.

2. Luka Modric

Harry Redknapp's midfield engine is the man who's behind the attacks at Tottenham.

The tricky Croatian has proven that he's a big player in the Premier League and has been a long-time admirer of Fergie. He would be a brilliant addition to the squad.

1. Wesley Sneijder / Samir Nasri

SNEIJDER WILL STAY AT INTER MILAN!

Let's face it: Sneijder will be staying at Milan for another year it seems. Maybe he's just too scared to take the leap.

But Nasri is perfect. He's unhappy with his contract, he wants silverware and wants to stay in England. Where better to look than the Champions? He can play on either flank or through the middle.

Fergie needs to step up in his pursuit for Nasri, if there is one.

Thank You

Here are a few more players who would be great too.

1. Benzema (replace Berbatov)

2. Varene

3. Miguel Veloso (brilliant player in my opinion)

4. Jose Renia (never going to happen but brilliant keeper)
