Real Madrid to Visit the City of Brotherly Love in July 2011

According to the eMagazine Goal.com, Real Madrid will be playing an exhibition match in the City of Brotherly Love. The venue for the match will be the Lincoln Financial Field Stadium in Philadelphia, Pa.

Real Madrid will play against the MLS team Philadelphia Union on July 23, 2011 in their final leg of their tour of the USA. Real Madrid will then fly to China for exhibition matches in Guangzhou and Tianjin.

Don Smolenski (who is the CEO for the NFL team called the Philadelphia Eagles) was interviewed by Goal.com in regards to Real Madrid visiting Philly.

Smolenski was instrumental in bringing the 1994 FIFA World Cup to the Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit, Mich. He was also instrumental in the attempt to place Philly on the map for the American bid for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

While the USA and Philadelphia was bypassed in favor of Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Smolenski extolled the virtues of Philadelphia and Lincoln Financial Field in its capability of hosting events such as the friendlies between Real Madrid and the Philadelphia Union.

What I would not do to see Cristiano Ronaldo or Kaka in Philadelphia, maybe one day Real Madrid can play in Miami, Fla.
