LeBron James: Isiah Thomas Joins in on LeBron James-Michael Jordan Debate
It is expected that those who played against the likes of Michael Jordan will have the utmost respect for him and what he was able to accomplish as a player for the Chicago Bulls.
I thought Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s personal and entirely too long letter to Scottie Pippen overstepped a few rational boundaries, but I guess those kinds of things happen when you want to address something that you are passionate about.
Now, Isiah Thomas, one of the original "Bad Boys" with the Detroit Pistons, has stepped forward to make a few points of his own in disagreement with Pippen’s LeBron James G.O.A.T. comments, as reported by ESPN:
"I think LeBron has a chance to eclipse Jordan if he continues to improve his game, but where they are right now, you still have to take Jordan as being the better player.”
He then went on to speak about how complete a player Jordan established himself as and that LeBron has a better chance of being Jordan’s equivalent than his superior.
As much as James would probably love it to, the debate will never go away. LeBron’s game on both ends of the court forces people’s hands when it comes to comparing him with some of the greatest to ever play the game.
That is the era we are in. Kobe Bryant suffered those comparisons for years, and to this day fans claim that he is one ring away from being the next official Michael Jordan. No one will be able to create their own avenues if we continue to put them in the lanes of those who came before them.
