
European Football's End-of-Season Power Rankings
With the end of the European season last Saturday, it is now time for transfers galore, but before we all look ahead to the transfer window, we can look back on who were the top teams in Europe this season.
Many unexpected winners came to the top of the continent's top leagues to clinch a spot in next year's UEFA Champions League group stage.
From Barcelona to Milan to London, the European clubs on this list truly excelled all season long.
10. Chelsea

Chelsea finished the second half of their season in good form after a rough first half of the year.
After climbing up the table to within points of Manchester United, the Blues failed to come through with the big win against United and in turn, dropped points in their final two games of the season.
The season was not good enough to keep Carlo Ancelotti in charge of the club as he was sacked hours after the club's last game against Everton.
The leading candidates for the Chelsea job are Andre Villas-Boas of Porto and former Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink, whomever takes over the squad, it will have to be a younger side to contend with both Manchester clubs.
9. Ajax

Even after losing Luis Suarez in the transfer window to Liverpool, the Amsterdam club were able to win their first Eredivise title since the 2003-04 season.
Mounir El Hamdaoui picked up the scoring for his new club as he hit home 13 goals on the season, while Siem de Jong scored 12, and two of the most important of the season on the last day of the season against Twente to win the Eredivise title.
Ajax will now look to hold on to highly sought after defender Gregory van der Wiel, who has been rumored to be linked with a few big clubs already this summer.
8. Inter Milan

After winning the Champions League last season, Inter could only get to the quarterfinals when they lost in an upset to Schalke.
The Nerazzurri were not able to take home their 19th Scudetto as cross town rivals AC Milan beat them out, but the club were able to get one trophy as they took home the Coppa Italia.
Inter will now look to reclaim their Serie A title next season under Leonardo with Samuel Eto'o up front yet again. The Cameroon international scored 21 goals this season.
7. Lille

Lille were one of the shock winners in big European leagues this season as they took home the Ligue 1 title.
It was the club's first league title since the 1953-54 season and are in the Champions League for the first time.
The French champions will now look to hold on to two of their stars, who will likely exit the Stade Lille-Metropole, in Eden Hazard and Gervinho.
6. Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund won their first Bundesliga title since the 2001-02 season and did it in style as the took the league the title with seven points over Bayer Leverkeusen.
Dortmund will return to the Champions League, the competition the club won back in the 1996-97 season.
The German club has already lost Nuri Sahin as the Turk as already moved to Real Madrid.
5. Real Madrid

Even after racking up 92 points this season in La Liga, Real Madrid were unable to capture the title as they fell four points short of Barcelona.
Cristiano Ronaldo had one of the best seasons in recent memory as he scored 40 league goals and 53 total goals in all competitions.
Los Blancos did come away with one title this season as they won the Copa del Rey, and then Sergio Ramos infamously dropped the cup during the victory parade.
Jose Mourinho has already made headlines by trying to get Fabio Coentrao and Sergio Aguero to join the club for next season.
4. AC Milan

Milan won their first Scudetto since 2003-04 under the management of Massimiliano Allegri for the first season.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robinho and Alexander Pato all scored 14 league goals to lead the Rossoneri to the title.
A familiar face at the San Siro will be gone next season as Andrea Pirlo has moved to Juventus for next season after 10 years with the club.
3. Porto

Porto had a season like one they had under the Jose Mourinho era this season.
After running away with the Portuguese Liga and the Porutguese Cup, the Dragons won the Europa League title in Dublin.
Led by young manager Andre Villas-Boas and a core of stars led by Falcao and Hulk, Porto is back in the Champions League and will look to reclaim their place among Europe's best if they can keep their stars at the Estadio do Dragao.
2. Manchester United

United were on their way to a treble this season, but they could only come away with the Premier League title, a runner-up spot in the Champions League and a semifinal exit in the FA Cup.
Surviving a huge controversy at midseason with Wayne Rooney and seeing the emergence of Javier Hernandez, the Red Devils were able to take home the Premier League title.
United also said goodbye to three club legends as Edwin van der Sar, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes all retired this season.
1. Barcelona

Pep Guardiola's Barcelona club were by far the best in Europe this season.
The Catalans won the Champions League and La Liga as well as finishing second in the Copa del Rey to arch rivals Real Madrid.
Lionel Messi once again led the club in goals with 53 goals in all competitions and new signing David Villa fit right into the mix of Spanish national team stars on the pitch at the Nou Camp.
Barca will look to win their third Champions League title in four years and be the first club to repeat since AC Milan in 1988-89 and 1989-90.
