Miami Football: One Reason Why the Hurricanes Beat Every Team on Their Schedule
The goal for the Hurricanes and every other team in the country is obviously to finish the season without a loss.
Granted, it seems as though it's harder and harder to go undefeated these days, but it is possible. If the Hurricanes can control their turnovers, there is no way they don't have a chance to do it.
I have listed a reason for every game this year on why or how they will win each one.
Maryland Terrapins
1 of 12
Reason why the Hurricanes win: No Torrey Smith and no head coach, Ralph Friedgen.
The loss of of Friedgen may not sound so big, but it is a huge deal. Friedgen turned one of the worst seasons in Maryland history (2009 team went 2-10) to an 8-4 team in 2010.
He was given ACC Coach of the Year honors last year and having to play a team like the Hurricanes with a new coach will be hard to do.
Also the graduating of wide receiver/kick returner Torrey Smith was huge.
Smith had over 1,000 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns.
Losing those two alone will be Maryland's doom.
Ohio State Buckeyes
2 of 12
Reason why the Hurricanes win: Payback from last year and from 2002.
I know many of you are thinking the reason the Hurricanes win is due to the suspension of five players (including Terrel Pryor) and head coach, Jim Tressel, but I don't believe that is the case.
Miami was a poor team last year while the Buckeyes were number two in the country and playing at home, yet Miami only lost by twelve points.
Jacory Harris struggled as well, by throwing four interceptions.
This year, with better coaching and an overall better team the Hurricanes would beat the Buckeyes with or without the suspensions.
These Hurricanes have a better overall attitude and revenge is on their mind, I promise you that.
It's just a shame that those Buckeye fans will use their suspensions as an excuse.
Kansas State Wildcats
3 of 12
Reason why the Hurricanes win: Kansas State struggles against the run.
Kansas State had their moments last year and ended the season the same record as the Hurricanes at 7-6.
The Wildcats were able to rack up some points last year, but gave up 231 rushing yards per game.
With running backs Lamar Miller and Mike James taking over the offense, the Hurricanes will simply kill the Wildcats by running the ball.
Bethune-Cookman Wildcats
4 of 12
Reason why the Hurricanes win: Miami simply has better athletes.
Although Miami and Bethune-Cookman are only a couple hundred miles apart, this will be the first time they ever meet.
Division 1-AA Wildcats had a great year last going 10-2 and was in a three way tie for the MEAC championship.
When the Wildcats head to Miami they will see what the difference is between the two divisions.
The Wildcats just don't have the athletes Miami has and the Hurricanes should win handily.
Virginia Tech Hokies
5 of 12
Reason why the Hurricanes win: Hokies lost their entire offensive backfield from last years team.
The Hokies ended up winning the ACC after starting the season losing to number three, Boise State and then to division 1-AA, James Madison.
They were able to turn the season around based on the offensive three-headed backfield of Darren Evans, Ryan Williams, and four year starting quarterback, Tyrod Taylor.
They have all moved on and that means trouble for the Hokies.
Their defense will still be solid, with seven returning starters, but losing their entire offensive backfield will be too much for the Hokies to overcome against a very good Hurricanes team.
North Carolina Tar Heels
6 of 12
Reason why the Hurricanes win: North Carolina loses too many offensive players, especially four year starting quarterback T.J. Yates.
The Tar Heels could have won a national championship last year if they wouldn't have had so many suspensions, they were that good.
This year they lost their two tailbacks, two halfbacks, two starting offensive linemen, starting tight end, and most importantly, their leader, T.J. Yates.
Yates had a tremendous season throwing for 3,400 yards, tossing 19 touchdowns, and completing an amazing 67% of his passes.
He has been a true leader for the Tar Heels for the last four years and without him, the Hurricanes defense will shut down the Tar Heels.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
7 of 12
Reason why the Hurricanes win: The Yellow Jackets defense will not be able to stop Miami's ground game.
Georgia Tech lost seven players on defense last year, which doesn't bode well for a team that gave up 277 yards rushing to the Hurricanes last year.
This year the Yellow Jackets have to stop a Hurricane offense that is better then they were last year.
The Yellow Jackets will also be without their starting quarterback (Joshua Nesbitt) and stud running back (Anthony Allen).
Miami could easily match the score from last year, 35-10.
Virginia Cavaliers
8 of 12
Reason why the Hurricanes win: Another revenge game.
One of the most heartbreaking losses for the Hurricanes last year came against the Cavaliers, 24-19.
Not only did it kick the number 22 ranked Hurricanes from the top 25, but also crushed their hopes of a shot at the ACC Championship.
Oh ya, it was Virginia's only ACC victory of the season.
This year the game is in Miami, Virginia's missing their starting quarterback from last year, and Miami wants revenge.
I honestly believe the Hurricanes are more talented then the Cavaliers and will be proven this time around.
Duke Blue Devils
9 of 12
Reason why the Hurricanes win: Duke's defense can not handle Miami's pro style attack.
The Duke Blue Devils are going to improve on their 3-9 season, that I promise you.
That doesn't mean though, that they have enough to stop the Hurricanes.
Duke's defense gave up almost 30 points per game last year and with Miami's "new" offensive scheme, you can expect Miami to get at least another 30 against them this year.
Miami will attack them on the ground all game long and prove to be too much for the much improved Blue Devils.
Florida State Seminoles
10 of 12
Reason why the Hurricanes win: The loss of Christian Ponder will be more detrimental than people think.
Ponder was Florida State's leader, hands down.
He graduated last year and moved on to the Minnesota Vikings in the first round of this years draft.
This year his replacement, EJ Manuel, may be a more athletic quarterback, but he lacks the leadership Ponder had.
Many think FSU will go on to win the ACC and possibly play in the national championship.
I, on the other hand, believe the loss of Ponder will be devastating and will result in Miami beating FSU in Tallahassee.
USF Bulls
11 of 12
Reason why the Hurricanes win: USF's lack of offense.
The Bulls beat the Hurricanes last year due to a terrific defense along with a horrible Hurricane offense.
This year the Hurricanes offense will vastly improve, while the Bull's offense is still a question mark, especially with the loss of three starting offensive linemen.
Starting quarterback, BJ Daniels had a fairly decent sophomore year, but was plagued with inconsistency throwing 13 interceptions to his 11 touchdowns.
With the loss of the linemen and question mark at quarterback, Miami should have no problems beating the Bulls.
Boston College Eagles
12 of 12
Reason why the Hurricanes win: Boston College's lack of offense.
The Eagles, just like many teams the Hurricanes face this year, don't have a real potent offense.
In fact, the Eagles were ranked 109th last year in total offense in the country.
With all the question marks in the offense, they really won't have much of a chance against this good Hurricane defense.
I believe Miami will do enough against a good Boston College defense and beat the Eagles pretty easily.
