NY Knicks: Larry Johnson Talks to B/R About His Captain Morgan Campaign
Former Knicks forward and NBA all star Larry Johnson is best known for his prolific play on the basketball court, but this Summer, he is making headlines off the court, with the help of Captain Morgan.
Johnson is one of three former NBA players hosting Captain Morgan house parties as part of their Memorial Day weekend campaign.
The campaign is promoting Captain Morgan's Long Island Iced Tea mixed drink. Johnson hosted a party on Thursday, May 26th, in support of the campaign, at the Shoreham Hotel on 33 West 55th Street in New York.
In addition to Johnson's support of the campaign, former Philadelphia 76er, Darryl Dawkins and former Miami Heat player Voshon Leonard hosted parties in Philadelphia and Miami.
When asked to explain about what his collaboration with Captain Morgan's, Johnson said: "We are promoting the Long Island Iced Tea mixed drink by hosting parties across country."
Aside from New York, Miami, and Philadelphia, parties are also being hosted in Detroit, St. Louis, Chicago, Orlando, Trenton/Newark, Washington DC/Baltimore, Cleveland and Atlanta.
Furthermore, consumers all over will be kicking off Summer this Memorial Day weekend by hosting over 1,000 Captain Morgan Long Island Iced Tea house parties.
Also, as part of the campaign, Captain Morgan encourages consumers to drink and celebrate responsibly this Summer.
After receiving some background information about the campaign, I asked Johnson to tell me a little bit about the Long Island Iced Tea he was promoting and he said: "It's great and so easy. It's rum, vodka, whiskey, gin and triple sec all in one, so you just have to pour and you're good to go."
Captain Morgan Long Island Iced Tea is conveniently ready to serve and provides a taste of everything, which is why it has become so popular among party-goers.
Aside from the great taste of Captain Morgan Long Island Iced Tea, I asked Johnson what his favorite part about the campaign was: "I've met a lot of great people," he said, "it's been a lot of fun."
Such a large campaign with so much work involved must be physically draining though, right?
"No," Johnson said. "Its been a lot of fun. It doesn't feel like work."
Clearly, Johnson is enjoying his time working with Captain Morgan. He likes the parties, the people, and most importantly endorses the Long Island Iced Tea itself.
Johnson's universally liked persona, combined with his enthusiasm for the campaign, makes it obvious that Captain Morgan found the right player to endorse their beverage.
And with Johnson to help facilitate the campaign, it is hard to imagine it being anything other than a success.
