Alabama Football: 4 NFL Draft Picks in Round 1, More Top Recruits for Nick Saban

Larry BurtonMay 2, 2011

It's not like Nick Saban needed much help in landing top recruiting classes.

However, in a clear case of the rich getting richer, the recent NFL draft has given Saban even more ammunition for landing top talent in Tuscaloosa.

Imagine him, sat in the living room in the house of a good offensive lineman, talking to his parents.

"I'm sure I don't have to tell you how many of our linemen progress to the NFL, do I? Are you aware that our past two left tackles went in the first round of the NFL draft?"

Or in the living room of a highly-rated running back?

"You know, our running backs rarely stay for their senior season, since the NFL snaps them up.

"Just look at our Heisman-winning running back in this past draft, who went in the first round. Trent Richardson may go in first round next year."

Or in the living room of a defensive lineman?

"Our linemen are sought after by the NFL—with most of our games on television, they are well-known by all NFL scouts and have a chance to go high in the NFL, just like this year, when Marcell Dareus went in the first round."

Or the living room of a top receiver?

"No team sent more first-round picks into the NFL last year as Alabama. It's going to be that way for a while, I think.

"Who knows, maybe Julio is just the first of many of receivers at Alabama to go in the first round of the NFL draft?"

Coaches around the country are surely groaning over the prospect of Nick Saban having even more ammunition in his recruiting gun.

Soon, the Obama administration may just have to step in and force Nick Saban and Alabama to "share the wealth" when it comes to recruits.

With three of four of the last top recruiting classes already being in Saban's stable, the bar may have to be lifted by hot air balloons to record where things could go from here.

The future of recruiting in Tuscaloosa has just gotten brighter, as if Nick Saban really needed more help.
