WWE Extreme Rules: Christian vs. Alberto Del Rio, Who Should Win?
One of the main events of the WWE Extreme Rules 2011 PPV is the Ladder match for the World Heavyweight Championship between Christian and Alberto Del Rio.
It will be a historic night, no matter who wins.
Both are chasing his first major title in the WWE and there are good reasons to have each of them as new World Heavyweight Champion.

So, who should win? Let’s take a look.
The case for Christian
* There is no wrestler more deserving of a world title than Christian. Few have been so many years in the WWE and even fewer have achieved as many accomplishments as Captain Charisma.
* Snubbed other times for his stint with TNA, Christian is a main event performer who deserves at least one major reign.
* After Edge's retirement, having his best friend replacing him as World Heavyweight Champion would be a great “feel-good” story.
* A victory for Christian would keep one major title on SmackDown.
* The WWE needs to create another major “babyface” after the retirement of Edge. People are getting sick of always seeing John Cena and Randy Orton.
The case for Alberto Del Rio
* The Mexican Aristocrat has made a terrific impact in his first year in the WWE, becoming SmackDown’s top heel in just a few months and headlining WrestleMania 27 after his victory in the Royal Rumble.
* Among the youth movement in the WWE, Alberto Del Rio is definitely the most complete new wrestler: he is the full package, with great ring-skills, mic work and charisma.
* Del Rio was moved to RAW in the WWE Draft, so he needs to arrive as a winner, not with a second PPV defeat in a row.
* This will be Alberto’s third championship match and the two previous occasions (TLC and WrestleMania) there were serious talks about having him as the winner.
* He was originally given the No.1 contender over Christian to face Edge in this PPV, so it’s clear he was ahead in the ranks before the Rated-R Superstar had to vacate the championship.
And the winner should be…
The IWC will riot, but the right choice is Alberto Del Rio.
The Mexican star is poised to become the WWE’s top heel and it has become public that the company plans to schedule a Del Rio vs. John Cena match at SummerSlam.
The WWE can’t wait any longer to make Del Rio a World Champion. He already had two chances and lost; a third defeat would hurt his credibility.
It wouldn’t be the first time both world champions are on the same show. SmackDown can survive a couple of months without a major title.
Of course, the WWE could just move The Miz to the blue brand. After all, right now RAW is very heel-heavy (Miz, Del Rio, CM Punk, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Jack Swagger, R-Truth).
Christian does deserve a title reign, but then what? Who would he feud against after beating Del Rio? Wade Barrett, Sheamus, Mark Henry? None of those combinations look like PPV main event material.
