Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba Up Front; Chelsea Aims to Fight Till the End

Shehryar KhanApr 29, 2011

Fernando Torres has finally broken his 732-minute goal-drought and is all set to start alongside Drogba in the London Derby at the Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Carlo Ancelotti is set to revert back to a 4-4-2 and Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres are likely to pair up front in a bid to maintain Chelsea's bid to push the title race into the final day.

The Blues manager had abandoned his previous efforts to link Torres with Drogba after Chelsea were eliminated from the Champions League by Manchester United amid criticism of the £50 million striker.

Chelsea must beat Spurs if they are to increase the pressure on leaders Manchester United, who sit six points clear with four games remaining and a fixture at Old Trafford on May 8th. Chelsea can go into the final day with three points adrift if they win the next three games.

The game could see five Samba boys feature in the fixture baring fitness tests with Heurelho Gomes and Sandro from Tottenham while Alex, Ramires and David Luiz could go for the Blues.

However, Chelsea pair Ramires and Alex both remain in doubt with hamstring injuries, but Michael Essien looks set to recover from the knee problem he sustained at Stamford Bridge last week.

For Tottenham, Benoit Assou-Ekotto is out with a hamstring injury, and there are doubts over Vedran Corluka (ankle) and Niko Kranjcar (foot).

Tottenham have a good record against Chelsea in recent years, having won two and drawn two of the side’s last five encounters in the Premier League
